New setup and porting phone number.

Post by frostiex »

Hi folks, i have been a long time lurker and getting rdy to jump the on the boat.

I have signed up for an fpl account and number in calgary. I have purchased a obihai box, (obi110)
my plan is to pay the $50 for the config file and test out the service with the obi110. If the service is good, then I will port my number.

MY questions is, when I decide to port my number, it will cost an additional $25. But will I have to pay the $50 again?
When I port the number, will it just take over my existing freephoneline number?
or will I actually have 2 lines?

Hi there,

Once you pay the $25.00 one time fee, you do not have to purchase the configuration file again, and yes, your freephoneline number will be replaced by the phone number you wish to port. :) If you have any more questions, feel free to ask away, or call us at 1.866.515.5550. Thanks for your interest

$50 + tax for config file

$25 + tax port your old phone numbers if you want to keep it with freephoneline. I am sure you want to do that so need to call and tell people that you change your phone numbers

Pretty sure bridonca has sent you a link to find where to buy the Obihai in Canada in another section of the forum. http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3018

What if I've already paid for the config file and have a current FPL # and also want to pay the $25 to port my Bell # over. Can I pay another $50 for another config file and have 2 lines since my Linksys adapter has 2 jacks?

thanks

Yep. I have 3 FPL config files. Just set up another account (use a different email address when setting up a different account) then call in an say you want to port your number. As you say, they will charge you the 50$+25$ which pays for itself in a couple of months of not paying Bell.

If the site tells you you already have a FPL account, use a different browser or computer. You can have more than one no problems.
