Is there an issue with International Calls?

Post by andysiddell »

I have plenty of credit on both of my FPL accounts but am unable to dial internationally from either line. Long distance calls in Canada and USA are OK though.

Everything was working when I called the UK yesterday.

Anyone else having this issue?

I haven't seen anyone else mention a problem and I think they probably would have done by now.

I have the same problem when I called China yesterday. Right after I dialed the number, busy signal came up.

I have multiple international calls showing as Invalid number format (incomplete number) in call log. I did not notice this until now as other people in the house primarily uses international calls. Can you please look into this?

It would be quickest if you posted the numbers that failed replacing the last 4 digits with x. Most likely the callers failed to dial the full number required by Fongo.

I would probably suggest PM'ing the relevant information to Steve or Mike so that they can look into it directly and also access your account information to look into WHY the calls were failing (on the Fongo side of things) -- they are able to access the logs and see where the call routed and failed.

It is same number that failed then succesfeed at random interval. At time of this writing it is going through.

Random fails to same number

I would most DEFINITELY get in touch with Customer Service and have them trace back the call logs and see what is happening on the server side of things then. It may be some kind of a routing error ... assuming that you have changed NOTHING on your end (dial string etc) and it is completely random whether it goes thru or fails, it would point to something internal at Fongo that is the issue.

I find it not especially easy to dial numbers on the PC fpl keypad and it sometimes takes me several attempts. The solution for me was to use the speed dial/directory function on the client to call the numbers that I call. Perhaps you should try that to see if you still get the same problems.

I find the keypad TOO cumbersome. Click inside the box under your FPL/DV # and you can type the number in manually using your keyboard....

I normally do that if I have to type the number but on my laptop I find it just as bad! (May be partly linked to bifocals ... the fingers don't quite hit where they are meant to go).

I called yesterday again after one week. This time the problem is different. I could not hear the ring tone from the other. But suddenly I heard the other talk. So no ring tone from the other side is the problem.

I have a similar problem here, almost ALL THE TIME, using the default FPL softphone ... but it is for local and Canadian numbers too, as I don't have any credits or do LD!

The first few seconds of a call are ZERO-audio, but it clicks in and functions normally. Most of the people I call on a regular basis know that I have this issue when they see my incoming number, so they patiently hang out until I can hear them ... ahhh, the trials and tribulations of a sketchy internet connection (my problem) and a softphone that is far from ideal ...

:)

Even when testing, i use the keyboard on my computer. Being on a keyboard all day working, i can pound out a number much quicker with my fingers then with a mouse.
