Excellent service.

Thanks.
It has more drop calls recently. I ported my phone to FPL since 01/19/10.
My wife found sometime the phone "silent" (or didn't hear anything) when talking.
Sometime she could get back the call by playing with the "Flash" button (Press Flash button then press it gain, we have Panasonic cordless phone).

I got two big outages recently (one in 03/22 and one in the end of march that I don't remember exactly the date). My Linksys PAP2-NA kept getting the error "Cannot login to the server" even though the internet not down. Tried to re-enter the login, password or recycle the Linkys PAP2-NA won't help. I had to reboot both the router and the voip adapter to get it back each time. I put my voip adapter in the DMZ of the router so it should not have any port blocking issue with it. My wife just rebooted those again after she got the drop calls yesterday!

If you're having to reboot equipment to get things working, this could be a flaky router causing this too. For VOIP applications, it's always better to spend a little extra on a router.

I have the PAP2 same setup on two accounts, one at home and one for the parents. We have the same problem with both connections random dropped calls. We are on the rogers network.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Thanks.

This has not yet been isolated as a Freephoneline problem, if you read the other posts regarding this issue you'll see that the a lot of these issues are fixed and that those issues were due to hardware, firmware, or other issues that arose; not linked to Freephoneline.ca

My wireless router is Linksys WRT54GS (Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster). I found it's pretty stable.
I've just disabled QoS to see if it's better.

I'm also still getting the problem, so, subsequent to installing active cooling on all my devices, I've purchased my fourth router which I will try in the next couple of days, a Buffalo G300NH.

I'm also on my second modem.

Now I know that there is an indication that these dropped calls can be due to hardware/firmware, but let's be realistic here and acknowledge there does come a point where you cannot simply keep buying and replacing hardware in the hopes the problem will go away. The thought has also occurred to me that as the list of people experiencing dropped calls seems to grow, so does the number of different hardware appliances that are also involved with the process.

There must be some better way of diagnosing and getting to the root of the problem, let's hope we can find it soon.

i too have experienced this dropped call problem. I had an hour long call only once and it dropped at around 55 mins. I was not able to hear anything although the phone was connected to the call. I cancelled teh call and connected again and it worked fine.

I installed a Buffalo Router with DD-WRT last night. Got a call from Ontario that lasted 1:45 hrs this AM and all was good. Then another call from Revelstoke and it dropped after about 15 minutes.
