Hi,
I am from an Asian country, and have a valid visa to canada. Am currently in the process of searching a suitable job.
To get calls from the canadian companies i an in need of a local canadian mobile number.
For incoming calls purpose.
Is that possible to get an voip number which will have a canadian number (i dont have one)and forward calls to my local number,
or even i do not mind keeping any such app actively connected to the internet, to receive incoming calls.
Goal
To receive incoming calls with a local canadian number.
Any help or pointers is highly appreciated.
thanks and regards
Keyan

Fongo is a pretty good way to do what you want to do. They even have an international Android client for $5 As long as you have a decent internet connection, Fongo should do you well.

Hi,
Thanks for the immediate reply.
Would try out the fongo app.
Also would like to know is it possible to forward calls to a cellphone or a land line number, without my phone fongo app being connected to the wifi or 3g?.
I had seen one call forwarding option in fongo.. how does it actually work..
There are few vendors who claim to do so.. Is that really possible ?
Thanks in advance.
regards
Keyan.

Fongo forwards numbers from their own gear, so you do not need an active client for forwarding to work. I am not sure if Fongo allows forwarding to a long distance number from another country though, but if they do, you would be charged whatever the long distance per minute charge is, and a 4 cent connection fee.

Hi bridonca
Quick question for you:
Suppose I enable call forwarding from Fongo to my carrier number.
If someone calls me, and I don't have internet access, (so I don't pick up through Fongo) am I still going to receive the call on my cell?
In other words, are forwarded calls still carried through Fongo or do they get transferred to the regular mobile network.
Thank you in advance
