silent calls with IDs of "100/101/1000/900900" etc...
Anyone has got phone calls with caller IDs of above numbers recently? Picked up calls sometimes, but none of them had answers. I have tried to use "InboundCallRoute" to block above numbers on my Obi110, but it doesn't work.

Hi "senos", thanks info. However, I still don't get it how you did it. Could you provide bits of more details? Many thanks!senos wrote:READ THIS TOPICpychen2001 wrote:Anyone has got phone calls with caller IDs of above numbers recently? Picked up calls sometimes, but none of them had answers. What kind of ATA are you using? Most will have an option in them about allowing incoming SIP calls (term can change depending on the ATA)

I am using Obi110. I've tried the following method, but it didn't work at all (even it doesn't block my cell phone number). Thanks.FONGO_mike wrote:What kind of ATA are you using? Most will have an option in them about allowing incoming SIP calls (term can change depending on the ATA)

I put this rule in one of my X_InboundCallRoute:
{(?|x|xx|xxx|xxxx|xxxxx|xxxxxx):} ...
It bans any blank caller id and any caller id less that seven digits.

I have an OBI also, and start getting calls since day one. I use Method 4 (Oleg's method) from here: http://obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=5467.0 . Never had a call since then.

I have a device called "ATA S2" and there's no option to block or filter any inbound calls. When I first signed up over two years ago, I never received any of these calls. But now these numbers are calling 10-20 times a day. I'll even get a call while I'm already on the phone (and I still haven't figured out how to put someone on hold so I can answer the second call), and then I have to listen to a beep every few seconds, telling me there's another call from these bots.
It would be nice if freephoneline blocked these calls at a root level.
But in any case, I'm looking to buy a new ATA device that will have this filtering feature. Anyone know what is the latest model of the Obi, is it the Obi110?

These calls are not likely coming through the FPL system. The chances are they calling you via a SIP call and targeting your IP directly. You can get SIP calls to your phone if you know your (external) IP address. People can place calls to anything@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (where xxx is your external ip address).
You need to look for, or get, an ATA that will only allow calls to come in from registered providers (FPL for example) and not just anyone. I don't know your ATA so I can't say if you have that setting or not, but I know a lot of the more well known ones have it in some form or another.

Hi Jake, thanks for the reply. Yeah that makes sense. For some reason this "ATA S2" device doesn't have any setting I can apply to make sure the calls are registered. I picked up a Linksys SPA 3102, was only $20 on craigslist from another seller, and it seems to do the trick. There was a setting where "Require inbound call registration" that I set to YES and I haven't receive a bot call since setting it up.

That link seems to be dead. Is this still the case? I have crank callers from anonymous numbers calling me at midnight waking up my kids.FONGO_steve wrote:Unfortunately not, see my post here http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=650
