Moving to another country

Post by curt »

Let's say I have ported my landline number from Bell to Freephoneline and everything is working great in Canada.

Let's say I moved to another country. Am I correct to assume that I can continue using FPL's service (provided that the country does not block VoIP) without any changes? (I will be able to continue making and receiving phone calls as if my calls are local to Canada.)

Will Fongo, FPL, CRTC, Bell or any other entity in Canada change or take my phone number away if I stay outside of Canada for X years? If so, what is X?

You have it right, you can go anywhere with your account. No one will take your number from you as far as I know. I know there are a lot of people on the forum who have set up people with ATAs overseas to take advantage of the free calling.

After all, you are connecting via the internet, and that can be from anywhere. Obviously don't try calling 911 from that line.
