My apologies for the disconnections earlier when we were talking - I'm not sure if that was my end or yours? When you called back Cabil had told me that he had helped you and didn't think you required my follow-up (or that you would call back for me, I can't remember).
I'm going to think this one over because I've never come across a situation this complex - past my suggestions on the phone I'm pretty lost with what needs to be directed where.
Let's see what other input we can get here on the situation! I sure hope we can get you running, but being behind two routers certainly ads an element of confusion when it comes to getting all the traffic and ports directed accordingly.

Try a power cycle start from Cable Modem. I have similar set-up and got the same problem when I first time connecting my ATA to the router.

I've been talking to Steve but not really following this post - Why do you have two routers? -- If you are using one as a WAP turn DHCP off the WAP.

Double NAT is going to cause a lot of problems unless you can put your second router into the DMZ of the first one. Since you don't have access to it I guess that won't help.

I have one of these for one of my "throw" around ATAs -http://www.voipsupply.ie/products/Links ... ridge.html

The point would be to connect this device directly to the router upstairs and that way you can avoid the double NAT issue.

It does the job when you don't want to put an ATA near your router or run cat5e cables around the house. Might be what you need to simplify your set up (and avoid the double NAT issue).
