I can't make most local call

Post by 1000 »

Hi, Every one,
I have signed up Home Phone Plan. But I can't make most local call, even those numbers belong my local phone numbers. Every time I make those call, I will get message "You call is not covered by your tele plan". I have number of Brockville. We know these numbers, 613-341-XXXX, 613-342-XXXX, 613-345-XXXX, 613-349-XXXX, 613-213-XXXX, 613-246-XXXX, 613-423-XXXX, 613-498-XXXX, 613-499-XXXX, 613-556-XXXX, 613-802-XXXX, 613-803-XXXX, 613-865-XXXX, all are local number. I have tried many numbers, only 613-342-XXXX, 613-345-XXXX, 613-499-XXXXX working.

I have called FPL customers representative several times, some people told me, I need to dial 1 before the number. I did, it didn't work. Some one told, after update system by last Friday noon, it should work. So far I have same problem.

I am not expecting to make so-call long distance call for most city of Canada, only expect to make local call. But I don't get it.

Quite disappointed.

Wait until Monday and I'll have a look at the servers and such. Probably a misplaced digit or character in your dial plan.

Make sure your dial plan is exactly as follows:
(911|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|1xxxxxxxxxx|011xxxxxxxxxxxx.|98*|[6-7]x*xxxxxxxxxxx.)

I am using Nokia E71 SIP phone, no where to change or input the followings.

By the way, today, the phone indicated connected, I could not make any call. Received delated call after another side hanging up the phone.

Even I use softphone, I still can not dial local number, like 613-341-XXXX, 613-246-XXXX, etc.
So I believe there is some problem of your main computer center.

I wish one day I can dial our local number, otherwise, I paid $56.50 for nothing, because I can't use it.

I am not sure any one who has Brockville number?

Can I setup a device in our office sometime between the hours of 9:30am and noon with your account info? I'll use a PAP2T and configure it with your account exactly and see if I can duplicate the problem.

Absolutly, You can. Actually even you use softphone to dial 613-246-XXXX, 613-341-XXXXX, 613-498-XXXX, it would not work. You will get this message "this call is not covered by your tele plan".

I have tried this number: 613-345-1111, not working neither.

I'm also having the same problem: I can successfully dial some 416 and 647 phone numbers, however most of the 416 & 647 numbers will not go through, and I hear the message, "the call is not covered by your tarrif plan". How do I fix this?

Also, what do you mean by Recommended Dial String:
(911|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|1xxxxxxxxxx|011xxxxxxxxxxxx.|98*|[6-7]x*xxxxxxxxxxx.) ?

Do I input this anywhere?
What do I replace the 'x's with?

That goes in the ATA, leave the X's as is

OK, I'm using softphone only, no ATA. So I guess I don't have to worry about the dial string.

Please tell me what/how to correct so I can successfully make calls to 416 & 647.
As I said in last post, some calls go through, but most do not: I receive the "the call is not covered by your tarrif plan" message.

This happens with both softphone and Fring.

Hi Steve,

I'm having the same problem where I could dial some local number 416, 905 and 647 but most does not work. I do not get any message all I hear is just static noise. I'm currently using Rogers High speed and LInksys PAP2T. I've tried calling pizza pizza phone line 416-967-1111 and it does not work but it will work on my cell phone. The dial plan I have in my ATA is as follow.

(911|[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|1xxxxxxxxxx|011xxxxxxxxxxxx.|98*|[6-7]x*xxxxxxxxxxx.)

Thanks,

In that case I'd say to check your codecs and make sure all necessary port forwarding is done. It would only be a tariff plan issue if you receive a verbal error from the server after dialing.

Its been over 1 week now and my phone is still not working. I'm having a very tough time trying to figure out what I did wrong. I've checks everything again over and over again and I've following the setup instruction. I've open port UDP 5060-6061, 13000, 13001. I've made a few calls but I was not able to hear anything at all. But when I checks my call log it shows the call was connected. So I dont really know what I did wrong. Could someone please help.

Thanks,

Could you PM both Steve and I your phone number and him or I will pull up some comprehensive SIP logs?

Also - What antivirus / firewall software do you have?

Session initiation protocol uses 5060 both TCP and UDP as I remember and SIP over TLS uses 5061 TCP only, try this configuration and correct me if wrong.

It's usually TCP or UDP - UDP in our case

I am too having touble with some numbers in Montreal. So far I have encountered two numbers that i can't call. Last time I called FPL they said they would look into it and call me back, but it never happened. It seems that there's better support in the forums, could any of the admins help me out.
thank you.

Try a fresh call to some of them from your account, then let me know the time and what number was called to. I'll examine both the numbers, and the logs from your calls to the numbers, and see what's up.
Also, make sure you are direct dialing them for this test (ie. no phone book, speed dialing, etc.)

and sorry to hear about your experience with our phone support. Feel free to keep track of names if it ever happens again and I'll make sure it's looked into.

I just got my local number setup today (well kinda) and whenever I try calling it from a land line from work (705-564-xxxx) to my FPL line (705-885-xxxx) I get the "This call isn't covered by your tarrif plan" (whatever that word she says!) I get the same message when I try calling out from my Softphone. (windows)
