Post by gmc_2009 »

Hi,

I purchased the config. file, followed the SIP setup instructions, yet no dial tone (tone LED:OFF) + error message "Can not connect to login server".
Please advise.

Have you tried the PAP2T setup guide in the Device Configurations section?

Yes, I have.
It may worth to mention that the posted file (for the PAP2T-NA) is not 100 % either correct or complete (some setup values can only be partially seen, some others do not belong to a FPLsetup, etc.). The instructions are clear and useful but incomplete and hence, not sufficient.

All values are to be left to their default states unless the guide says to change them. If you're working on an ATA that's been previously configured, then reset it and follow our guide and you'll be 100% configured properly

Hi,

1. reset the ATA
2. opened the ATA setup file and checked the device has been reset
3. followed the guide and changed only the values mentioned
4. closed the ATA setup file
5. waited for 5 min.
6. unplugged the ATA for 1 min.
7. plugged in ATA

Result:
Line LED still OFF
No dial tone
"Can't connect to login server"

8. opened the ATA setup file and checked the device has been configured- OK

Current status:

Line LED still OFF
No dial tone
"Can't connect to login server"

Try with the updated version. Also what are your incoming and outgoing proxies.

The only things that would usually cause no connection to server is port forwarding, proxies, and no network link...

Tried:

"ATA Configuration Walk-Through (11-17-09).pdf" DONE- NO LUCK

> Also what are your incoming and outgoing proxies.

My ATA has been configured as:
Proxy: voip.freephoneline.ca

Outbound Proxy: voip.freephoneline.ca

Are these proxies the ones you are asking about ?

> The only things that would usually cause no connection to server is port forwarding, proxies, and no network link...

I also connected the ATA directly to the modem, but got the same result: No dial tone.

My PAP2T-NA is a brand new one, self testing is ok, so it's highly unlikely it is a hardware issue.

Is there anything else I can try ?

Thank you

What are you time servers? Also what modem do you have?

Primary NTP Server: time.nist.gov
Secondary NTP Server: time.windows.com

Modem: SpeedStream 5360 (Bridged)

Note: I'm also using an ADSL I-Line Filter on the phone line.

Out of curiosity, have you tried changing the ATA to negotiate traffic on a different port? I know those modems used to be hit and miss with using the softphone - I actually tested one here once with the softphone and had the most unpredictable connection experience ever. However, when I used a 5360 with our PAP2T I had no problems at all.

I unistalled the softphone but no help.
I haven't tried yet changing the traffic port. What ports would you recommend ?

Try changing your registration expiry time to 60sec. 3CX PBX is very good, but when I tried it last night on my PC it was a bit touchy until I got everything right.

I believe another user (Jake) is also using one, you should consult with him since he seems to have everything together.

Also try chaning your UDP port range on the 3CX PBX to a higher port like UDP Port 21303.
