Usually your Superintendent or Landlord needs to program the entry panel to ring to your phone number. It really should not matter who your phone provider is. We sometimes forward our home phone to our cell when we go out and have answered a cell call to be asked by someone to let them in!

It is not that simple...

There are two general type of Buzzers:
-The type that require your homephone number and do call forwarding (eg. if you remember your landlord/super asking foryour home phone number) will work fine with Voip since they just need a number...any number will do Voip or otherwise ...
-The second type of buzzer is hardwired into your copper line at home and cuts into the line ... in these cases you cannot use FPL to open the door ... what you may need to do is to leave a phone hooked up to an otherwise dead line for the purpose of opening the door only...

Thanks emoci.

I checked and we just need a phone number for our security system. Even cellphone will work for sure.
So once my number is updated and security system works on FPL line I will update my feedback.

Hi, I have the same set-up in my apartment complex. But here is the weird part. The door opening works fine with XP but doesnt work with vista 32 home premium. All the settings are the same, go through the same router etc. Tests on both XP and Vista show port 13000 as blocked. I tried to change the port number via the new version 2.1.0 but that doesnt help, still blocked. I know my ports are open since I use them with other applications.

Any ideas!

If you are using 13,000 with two applications it's possible for one to hog them and restrict access to others trying to use that same port.

Make sure DTMF is setup to InBand under the settings menu.

Hi, thanks for the quick response!

Just to make clear, I am not using any other application at 13000. But I can set other applications to use 13000 and check that they work. Also, checked via port checking websites...and its open. or are you saying if I have two instances of FPL working on two computers (xp and vista) I must configure them to use different ports? The DMTF setting is Info(SIP) is that InBand?

What puzzles me is even with the error, XP works fine. That is it opens the apartment door

Any help will be appreciated< would love to get it working on Vista!

If you're running it on two computers then you definitely want to have them use two different ports to avoid any sort of conflicts with both copies trying to negotiate data on one port.
