Not sure what you mean....

FPL is a Canadian service and only has Canadian area codes...

When I first received my magic jack and was installing it I was told I could not get a Canadian area code yet?

I'm not quite sure what you are talking about. We are not associated with Magic Jack...

That I could not tell you. In order for a domain name to point to a hosted website someone must change the DNS entry associated with that domain name. If magicjack are the owners of magicjack.ca then it must have been someone in their company who modified the DNS entries to point to our website. There's nothing we can do here unfortunately - but if they don't change it back then I forsee lots of confusion.

So here's what we've uncovered so far:
www.themagicjack.ca is the official canadian magicjack distributor.
www.magicjack.ca is an independently owned domain that some individual owns and has set to direct the traffic to our site.

Looked up the WHOIS info for magicjack.ca and the individual has their phone number hidden so we can not contact them to change this.

magicjack.ca now has a landing page that visitors can click to go to TheMagicJack.ca or this FPL site...

Kind of strange that someone would setup a page like that, unless they are hoping that magicjack or fpl will try to buy it from them... looks like the person is an affiliate of magicjack though, perhaps they are making money when people sign up for that service.

I looked at it myself and as it look, it is in our favor... Which I'm personally not complaining about, but it reflects poorly on our service, like we're trying to sweep them under the rug or something.

Steve or I will keep you posted on this issue.

Likely what happened is since magicjack never officially registered magicjack.ca, it was available for the first buyer. So this guy bought it. By now directing it to magicjack OR freephoneline, he is hoping magicjack will buy it off him. Why? Because who wants to go to magicjack.ca and be offered an alternative, free, service?!
Domain realestate is a big market and this guy knows that magicjack will probably pay really good money for ownership of that domain to stop pointing it to alternative services, like ours :)

Well, if that is indeed what this person is trying to accomplish I can't imagine how magicjack would contact him to purchase his domain if he hides his contact information from the WHOIS.

Lol. Forgive me if I am missing something here.
Either way, it looks like the domain is pointing to magicjack's website now.
I don't see anything to do with FreePhoneLine or any other Alternative VOIP service.
