Hi,
Tried my FPL line with Protectron - didn't work.
Tried to change codec to G711u and set it as prefered didn't work.
Any suggestions?

I do not know all the settings for PAP2T but I have configured this my SPA2102 and my alarm works #1:

Fiddling with the settings on a PAP2 won't make anything better, really.

It's the inherent latency of VoIP that causes Home Alarm systems not to work well.

My suggestion? Get a cellular monitoring solution or just grab one of the most basic home phone lines from your local telco that actually provides you with a real landline.

I have MANY homes and small businesses running well on VoIP solutions for alarms. So it is possible.
Things to keep in mind, is it a one-way or two-way monitoring connection? (Many need only to make calls out.)
Consider the fact that most alarm systems act like computers and send periodic update information to the home base. (Usually once or twice a day.)

Set-up your PAP like you're trying to use fax. This means turn off ECAN (Echo cancellation) and Silence suppression. use a g711 codec, preferably "ulaw". Reduce jitter tolerance settings. (If I recall correctly there is low,med,high,very high.) Try it at medium.

Now call your alarm company, and test with them.

As I said, I've had this working reliably for many homes and businesses.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but there was lots of confusion on if a Home Alarm could work on FPL service. I followed the suggestions on this post and changed the settings on my PAP2T and was able to verify my Home Alarm started working with the Protectron monitoring station with these settings in this post. I first called their tech support which were no help but was basically saying that it doesn't work with your service, it is incompatible, lets sell you a GSM antenna and increase your monthly fee. This is absolutely not true, it does work with some ATA tweaking and I'm happy! Thanks so much for the suggestions!
