Using Dell Voice VM as a replacement for Rogers cell VM??

Post by dishguy1977 »

So I'm thinking about using my Dell Voice VM to replace the VM service on my Rogers cell phone. I have set all the conditional forwarding on the cell to forward to my Dell Voice number and set the # of rings to 1 for the Dell VM. It seems to work pretty well. Is there anything I am forgetting or that I need to watch out for??

The only minor issue I am having is with checking VM from my cell if I dial the remote access phone #. It takes a really long time to recognize the phone # after typing it in and there is a delay of about 15 secs before you can input your password.

If you press the pound (#) key after entering your number then it will proceed immediately; same applies for the password.

You beat me to it Steve! Happy Monday! Can I suggest that we add the "end with hash/pound" to the FAQ when it goes into the beauty parlour for it's makeover? This is a frequent question too, and with the Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaarge timeout that Fongo has set (I think 15s is a conservative number), post-pending the '#' to account numbers and passwords is a VERY time saving measure!!

Perfect! The # key worked perfectly! Thank you very much guys!

Now the only problem is voicemail notification- shouldn't there be some sort of notfier that you have VM in the Blackberry app? There isn't any way to have the voicemail emailed to you, is there??

Dom_A confirms that there is a fix coming (soon!?) for the faulty MWI problem which has been plaguing Fongo for quite some time. The Voicemail-to-Email feature is found on the FPL product, and is not featured on the DellVoice product. Different feature set for different title-sponsors.

It has been stated by Fongo repeatedly that there are no plans to add this functionality to the DellVoice platform as those wishing to have this feature should sign up for an FPL account instead.

:( Sorry

Thanks again! I set up a FPL account for the time being and have it up and running with the VM to email feature. I will still use the Dell Voice app on my BB and when the MWI glitch is fixed may go back to using DV for voicemail too. These services are great! I am going to have to look into setting up FPL to replace my home phone too!
