Words in numbers

Post by Jake »

First of all, I hope me posting this is OK. If not, please remove it.
Secondly I will admit, I probably have too much time on my hands.

Since I started to learn about VOIP and with the help of FPL get a new number to ditch my Bell line, I got interested in what words you could make with the numbers that were offered by FPL. My local exchange is Ottawa, so I played around with the letters for a bit to see what names were possible. I wondered if I found a good one I liked I could phone in and try and request that number. Well one thing lead to another and using the list of numbers posted by admin in this post http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic ... =565#p2360 and a big text file full of words I wrote a small script that would show me all the 7 letter words that would be possible to make using the last 7 digits of a number from the list of possible numbers in that posts. I did however remove all the numbers with a 1 or 0 in the NXX as those numbers do not have a letter on them.

The result is here > http://nostranger.com/words.php which you are free to click around on. I have not gone through all of them, but I did quickly see some interesting ones like
613 omelets (613 663 5387), 289 milkman (289 645 5626), 289 million (289 645 5466), 613 domains (613 366 2467). And also some funny ones like 613 doormat (613 366 7628), 613 doodles (613 366 3537), 226 whoopee (226 946 6733)

It is all done just for a bit of fun, but I thought I would share it. I have no idea if these numbers are taken, or if FPL will accept requests for numbers.

Cheers, Jake.

Haha, that's quite awesome Jake! Makes me wish I'd live in some of those cities just to get an amazing phone number I could advertise.
Any plans to do our 519-804 area? ;) Although it would be limited to 4-letter words since 0 has no letters associated

As you mentioned, the 0 does not have any letters on it so I did not have it in the list. Assuming FPL bought all 1000 numbers in the 519 804 block then you would be able to make any 4 letter word with the last 4 numbers. I did however use the 4 in 804 to make a list of the 5 letter words you could make. http://nostranger.com/words2.php There are 463 of them including 519 80 igloo (519 804 4566), 519 80 howdy (519 804 6939), 519 80 gofer (519 804 6337) and 519 80 horny (519 804 6769) :o

Unfortunately not. Sorry, what he did was write up a script with the letters from each numbers (1 = ABC 2 = DEF etc...) also with the amount of numbers we have.

We buy 10,000 numbers per batch, what happens is this:

First number would be
5198040001
5198040002 etc...

So 5198040001 has none, 5198040002 the two is replacable with an A, B or C.

Right now you can't pick your number because there is a good posibility that it's not available until we purchase a new batch, which I have no idea when that will be.
