Hi, does freephoneline support old Vonage ATAs like the Motorola VT2142 or VT2442? I'm considering switching but want to be sure that these ATAs can be used with this service.
Thanks

I think those Motorola devices are locked to Vonage so you would have the problem of unlocking them. There is unlocking discussion on the web but it may no be worth the trouble. If not locked then freephoneline should work. A good test might be to get a free SIP account from getonsip.com and make sure that you can you can connect to that and make test calls. Also, if you have not done so already, get the PC version of freephoneline and see how you get on with it. Otherwise, just buy a new ATA such as the Grandstream 286 (<$50) or another that suits your needs whatever they may be.

Going to move this to a more appropriate area. As per the big red rules banner at the top of the device configuration section, that section of the forums is a library for sharing completed, working configuration guides.

Vonage did load their own firmware, some of their older versions were not locked and could simply have the original Motorola (or updated Motorola) stock firmware installed from the administration page.
For a while Vonage released firmware without any noticeably accessible administration page, and then more recently I am informed, if you have purchased an ATA from Vonage, and no longer wish to use their service, you can call them for support on unlocking the device, though I don't know if they will still talk to you once you're an ex-customer.
