Kola, I'll trace some calls and look through the SIP trace logs to see where the routing went wrong and get back to you in the morning.

Re: Calls from Softphone to FPL no. going to Voice Mail
I think this is similar to my problem here > http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic ... =653#p2987
If I call from a PAP2T to another device (I have tried - PAP2T, FPL softphone, 3CX PBX) where both ends are using a FPL number, it either goes straight to answerphone, or the PAP2T end gets a busy tone when someone picks up on the other end. ALL other calls between FPL & cell, FPL & landline, FPL & another voip carrier; are fine and connect without a problem either way.
The only way I have managed to get a successful call between me and my friend is to change the codec setting on the PAP2T to G711u. Now it all seems to work fine, but when I change it back to G729a as in the config setup, it stops working again.
We have tried opening all sorts of ports, and even removing the router and connecting it straight to the modem to eliminate ports as being a problem. No matter what we did G729a would not work between two FPL numbers. Both ends had to be on G711u.
Could it be that Rogers or Bell are blocking G729a somehow?

Hi, I sent you a PM with one failed call, and one successful call we made this morning. If you want me to list the failed calls from yesterday I can, or you can lookup all the calls between the two numbers yesterday, they all failed.admin wrote:Can both of you guys email me some examples? Re: Calls from Softphone to FPL no. going to Voice Mail
Hi Kris,
In my case the problem is from FPL softphone to FPL nos congfigured on ATA.
The calls straight go to the voicemail.
I will PM you the call list in the desired format.
Thanks,
Kola

Re: Calls from Softphone to FPL no. going to Voice Mail
Kola, I have this same problem. Also if I try and call the softphone with a FPL number on an ATA the call fails also. Switching the codec to G711u on the ATA was the only way I could make the call work.kola wrote:Hi Kris,

hi jake,
if i change the codec to G711U, then the person on the other side cannot hear me.
So i have to stick to G729a, which is desired by FPL too.
Thanks,

Re: Calls from Softphone to FPL no. going to Voice Mail
Yes I agree. I would prefer to have it on G729a also, but calls just didn't work between us. The other setting I changed was this one Use Pref Codec Only: which I changed to no. Maybe this has something to do with why it is working now.kola wrote:hi jake,

Hopefully FPL will find an answer.

Re: Calls from Softphone to FPL no. going to Voice Mail
Well, I've figured it out!!
Though it is very unfortunate, we use G711u because well, it's free and we pay nothing for licensing. The softphone uses G711u by default, but these ATA's have been setup to use G729a, but not G711u or G723. That's why we could not make call with FPL...

No we're not. You should change the codec in the ATA to G711 though.

Re: Calls from Softphone to FPL no. going to Voice Mail
hi kris,
if i change the codec to G711 at my end on the ATA then the person I call cannot hear me.
I had this problem right in the beginning and you had asked me to change codec to G729a. Since then that problem was over.
But now if i try to change the codec again , the same problem arises.
Please provide solution.
Thanks,
Kola

Re: Calls from Softphone to FPL no. going to Voice Mail
SPA 2102 has options of :-
1. G711U ---------> DOES NOT WORK
2. G711a
3. G729a ---------> WORKS FINE BUT CONFLICTS WITH FPL SOFTPHONE
3. G723
4. G726-16
5. G726-24
6. G726-32
7. G726-40
THERE IS NO OPTION FOR "GSM" CODEC. I CAN ONLY TRY G723 & GIVE A FEEDBACK.
THANKS,
KOLA

Solution
hi kris:
The point Jake had mentioned gave the solution "Use Pref Codec Only: changed to no"
So in the Preferred, Second Preferred & Third Preferred, if we keep G729a with the above settting, the FPL softphone works fine without any problem now.
Thanks kris & Jake for solving the problem.

I must admit that I didn't try leaving it @ G729a and just changing the other setting. At one point I had changed so many settings I didn't know where I was, and then when I finally got it working I didn't want to try anything else.
I'm not sure that this explains why I can call my G729a FPL number using another voip service that is using G711u (or a landline/cell). Does this mean that the audio is getting relayed somehow when calls are made to/from the FPL network, but routed straight through when it is in-house?
Anyway, hopefully this will help others with the same problem.
Jake

Changing that will cycle through the codecs until it finds the best match yes. Can't believe we didn't think of that sooner...
