I called customer support to ask about price of ATA.
I was using the softphone on my new laptop with headhones and mic
the call quality was poor, and I even lost the call half way through a question.
my question is, is the call quality better with the ATA?
is it better than the soft phone?
I don't want to pay all that money for poor call quality
if you are a customer and have ATA from freephone I would like to hear from you.
thanks
FYI as of the time of this post
the ATA is $79 plus $50 config file plus $20 shipping
total $149

Re: question about call quality with ATA
Yes the Quality with an ATA is amazing as long as you use the correct settings. I just purchased one and a config file which i've been using for the past week or so and i have to say it was well worth it so fpl gets 5 thumbs up from me The softphone is horrible but i mean it also depends on the type of headphone/mics you use along with the ports settings all that but yea the softphone was annoying for me also.

Re: question about call quality with ATA
To have a better idea about the call quality, forward the freephoneline number to a number you can get access to, and get people to call the freephoneline number. I agree the softphone is not one of freephoneline's better sales tools, but the sip settings bypass a lot of the glitchy audio problems.
Re: question about call quality with ATA
I got an ATA and the quality is as good as a regular land line.
