Post by philh77 »

I wanted to set up a Toronto number and forward it to my Oshawa number.

How would you be making local calls from your cell phone?.. Do you mean you have SIPDroid or something configured to you cell?

I will call the free phone Toronto number, from my cell, then forward the Toronto number to my Oshawa number. that way, my call will be local.
also if someone in Toronto wants to call me, it will be a local call

Makes sense, but we don't allow a FPL number to be forwarded to a FPL number... Look here: http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=663

We prefer only one.
You can setup the number to forward to Bell when your softphone or ATA device is not active.

Isn't it easier just to list the Oshawa landline or cell as the follow-me numbers on your Toronto account directly?

Instead of FPL to FPL forwarding, one nice addon feature would be to allow additional dial-in numbers (i.e. alias) for an account. This is the 40 FPL number business scenario mentioned earlier but perhaps a flat annual fee can be charged and the number of additional numbers can be restricted to, say, 2 or 3.

And to deter the usage of FPL to FPL forwarding for business purposes, perhaps each FPL transfer can be prefaced by a recording announcing that the original phone number is being transferred. Potential customers may think twice about dealing with businesses resorting to such tactics.
