Text message font needs to be bigger
FYI virtually everyone over age 43 has diminishing reading eyesight. It's vital to be able to increase the font size in general, but especially the text message window, it's rather small.

font size can be configured in android system settings as a global setting

Yes, but I think the suggestions (or at least my +1 on this topic) refers to the suggestion that the text at any OS font size level should be relatively larger. The text feels small for the font size setting I have in the OS right now relative to the text size in all of my other apps.
