Receiving SMS outside Canada

Hi! I'm traveling abroad and I wonder if by buying the "Unlimited Global SMS" I'd be able to receive those access codes that my bank sends in order to verify my login while I'm outside of Canada.
I already swap to push notifications with my bank to avoid issues but since it's my first time traveling abroad with this "system" in place, I'm kinda nervous about losing access to my accounts and I thought about this as a backup plan in case the first fails.
Years ago when I traveled this wasn't an issue as this kind of security wasn't implemented yet, so with your standard login, you were good to go.
Anyone has already tried this? Any advice is welcomed.
