Migrate history and voicemail files from one phone to anothe

Post by toast »

I just got a new phone and I'd like to install the Fongo Mobile app on it so that I have access to my voicemails and history of calls. Is that possible or will I end up losing both upon installing Fongo on the new phone? Even though I've selected to copy my voicemails to my email, it doesn't always do so.

I haven't been paying attention to what happens with the Fongo Mobile application each time I upgrade smartphones, but you can always check call logs for the current month and past month by logging in at https://account.fongo.com/admin/reports/call-logs/, regardless.
Similarly, if you can see your voicemail when logging in at https://account.fongo.com/admin/reports/voicemail/, then you should be able to continue seeing your voicemail online even after changing phones.

Keep this in mind: "Like other phone service providers, voicemail messages are only saved for 10 days to ensure there is sufficient space on our servers for new voicemail messages to be left. You can dial in to your voicemail box to save messages for an additional 10 days."

Voicemail to email always works for me. I suggest checking your online webmail (via a web browser, login to your online webmail account) spam folder for missed voicemails.

"After checking your Fongo Voicemail Settings and everything seems good, another reason why you're not receiving Voicemail email notifications is with the email provider settings. You will need investigate with your email provider. Some hints that may help you resolve your problem.

Check your junk mail settings
Check your email filters
Check your junk/deleted folders
IMPORTANT: You will sometime need to create a filter in GMail to allow mail from @vm.fongo.com (https://support.google.com/mail/answer/6579?hl=en)"

If no one else responds, you can submit a ticket to receive an official response: https://support.fongo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

Unfortunately, none of my voicemail messages are visible through the online site, nor is the call history except for my most recent outgoing call I made last month. In my account page, it shows Fongo Voicemail, but in the About page, it shows Fongo Mobile 2023.3.0.

Then unfortunately there's a potential risk if you don't see them after logging in at https://account.fongo.com/admin/reports/voicemail/. I suspect a new app install just pulls information from what's shown in your online web account (I could be mistaken). Again, if you want a more accurate response, you might want to submit a ticket.
nor is the call history except for my most recent outgoing call I made last month
That's not normal. Login at https://account.fongo.com/admin/reports/call-logs/
Or navigate to Account-->Call Logs.
Select "current and previous month" in the drop-down box.
Click "Submit". You should see last month's calls listed.
In my account page, it shows Fongo Voicemail
That would be normal if you're visiting https://account.fongo.com/admin/reports/voicemail/.
Alternatively navigate to Account-->Messages.

"Messages
Voicemail and Fax Messages"
but in the About page, it shows Fongo Mobile 2023.3.0.
The About page in the app is showing the app version number. That's normal.

I tried that on a separate device and confirmed that after installing the Fongo app and logging in, it shows none of my existing History, Messages, Voicemail, or anything else. My account is the same and with the same number. It seems like all of this data is only stored on my current phone and nowhere else. Is that true?

"Messages

I'm navigating there within the app, just to clarify.

If you don't see your voicemail after logging in at https://account.fongo.com/admin/reports/voicemail/, then yes, for voicemail. There's nowhere else the app could possibly acquire voicemails from. If the voicemails are deleted from the servers, they're gone, unless they're saved locally on a device.

Possibly app data transfer is possible between phones (but that's not a feature in the Fongo Mobile app).

Keep this in mind: "Like other phone service providers, voicemail messages are only saved for 10 days to ensure there is sufficient space on our servers for new voicemail messages to be left. You can dial in to your voicemail box to save messages for an additional 10 days."

Current month and previous month (only) call logs should be stored at https://account.fongo.com/admin/reports/call-logs/
Call duration is rounded to the nearest minute. Based on what you just told me, that information isn't collected in the new app installation, however.

I'm navigating there within the app, just to clarify.
Okay, that's also normal.
