[resolved] No Connection to the server on Dell Voice Desktop

Post by swan_ch »

Hi. I'm new to this forum, I've just download and made a account on Dell Voice, and I've done the activation online and got a phone number in Vancouver.

However, when I was trying to use Dell Voice with my laptop(which is with Vista), I logged in and when dial-pad pop-up, there was a messsage shown "No Conncetion to the server"

I checked the website and click Test connection. The result shows that it was "Unable to send/receive sound data! Port 13000 should be avaliable", I have no idea how to fix this problem so I decided to made a post here and hope someone could help me to fix this problem....

Hi swan_ch, it would appear that your UDP port 13000 is blocked. I would suggest you call your internet provider and ask them to open forwarding ports 13000 UDP and 13001 UDP. Please let me know if after that you are still having any issues.

My ISP also offers VoIP services. Is 13000 a default port for VoIP? If so, then my ISP will probably be reluctant to forward it along with 13001 to me.

Can we use another port?

Interestingly, I installed the iphone app and connected to my home network, the same network that my laptop says port 13000 is blocked. I can use the iphone app fine. I can make and receive calls and hear people.

What's the difference in audio port between the laptop and the iphone?

I've just check my firewall in my laptop before I ask for the help from my ISP, it looks like Dell Voice is trying to access via the port 13000 to a IP address which had no response from it.

here's the capture from my computer during the test of connection. With the firewall's "Active Connection" records.
