[resolved] Calling From Abroad

Post by yycdave »

When using Dell Voice and calling from another country over WiFI, is the called charges as though I were making the call from my home Canadian location? For example, if I'm in Italy, and I'm calling a Toronto number from Italy, would that be a "free" call?

Cheers,
Dave

Yes.

So do your Italian relatives and friends a favour. Get them a DV/Fongo account with a Toronto phone number so they can call you free of charge ;)

Hi Dave, the call would indeed be free. No matter where you are, Dell Voice is free to use to call Toronto.

Further to Mikes' post, I would think of your Dell Voice mobile account like your own portable point-of-presence. Wherever you are in the world, if you log on with your Dell Voice Toronto phone number, it's just like you're calling from Toronto.
(data charges of course will cost you if you're anywhere but Peru - It's criminal to charge roaming fee's on data or voice there!).

Hi Kris or Mike,

I made an account for my girlfriend who's in China at the moment. I got her a local 604 number here in Vancouver. She said that she tried calling me but it didn't work. Do you happen to know if it's working in China, ie someone has been known to have used it. I don't know if it isn't working or if it's China who's blocking it or something. I know Tango, the video app works in China and many other apps like skype etc. so it'd be weird if it was the case. Just wondering. Hard to troubleshoot when she's far away.

Thanks
