have to reboot ATA every couple of hours
I just got my new Cisco PAP2T-NA and configured with Dellvoice's unlocked key.
Everything works so far but one major glitch is that the phone stops ringing for the incoming calls until I reboot the ATA (by reboot, I mean unplug and plug the power cable). After ATA is rebooted, the phone rings for the incoming calls until couple of hours later.
I have done the port forwarding on my router, I also tried DMZ. Nothing helps.
Could someone please advise?
thanks.

Look on the Line 1 Tab and look for "Register Expires:"
This has come up before and making 60 usually fixes this.

Re: have to reboot ATA every couple of hours
thanks for the reply. I set the register expires at 3600 as per the instruction posted on this forum?
Changing it to 60 would help? Just one note that when the incoming calls don't ring, outgoing calls do not have problems at all.

Re: have to reboot ATA every couple of hours
I had the same problem as you, until I changed it to 60 (this is on my FPL account, but it is the same as DV). What is happening is the ATA is loosing connection with the FPL server. I think it may have something to do with NAT settings, but that is more than I can tell you about. Setting it at 60 tells the ATA to keep reminding the FPL server where it is.
With an outgoing call the ATA talks to the FPL server, which is easy to find so it doesn't have problems. An incoming call the server needs to find your ATA, and if it has lost registration then it doesn't know where to send the call.
You don't have anything to loose by setting it at 60, try any number if you like. 60 worked for me.

thank you for your help. I have changed it to 60.
Now is the waiting mode. I am going to do something else before trying to ring again.

Re: have to reboot ATA every couple of hours
Just as a note, I have found some settings have only taken hold once I have powered down the PAP2T and then powered it back up again. I can't remember is this setting was one of those.
If you check on your main page it should tell you when the next registration will be in. If it shows more than 60, then you might need to do a power cycle.
Let us know how you get on.

"register expires" value is persisted after I clicked "save" button, I didn't power off/on.
So far so good. It's been almost an hour, the phone still rings for the incoming calls.
I will report back tomorrow.

Re: have to reboot ATA every couple of hours
Just noticed another issue.
My friend on the other side of line told me there is a very very short hiccup in my voice. The hiccup is so short that it's almost unnoticeable but it definitely exists. It happens every 15-20 seconds while we were talking.
He is using vbuzzer.
Does it have anything to do with network bandwidth? I am using Rogers 10M download and 512K upload.

when you are using the phone, are you downloading/uploading at the same time? It is possible you are using a high percentage of your bandwidth.

Re: have to reboot ATA every couple of hours
I was not downloading or uploading anything. I made sure everyone in the house was not using the internet for the sake of the testing.
I was wondering if 10m DL and 512K UL speed is sufficient enough?

Re: have to reboot ATA every couple of hours
Do you hear any hiccups?
10Mbps / 512Mbps is the same speed I'm running at home and I have flawless service even when watching TV etc.. (my entire house runs over the internet..), any idea what your friend on VBuzzer has speed wise? Are you connected over a wireless network, or through Ethernet (RJ-45)? I've noticed my signal strength goes from full bars to one or two (out of six) on both my phone and laptop when I'm in the basement even though I'm using a decent wireless N router - Cisco E1200

Re: have to reboot ATA every couple of hours
I am certain it's not the problem of the other side because I talked to many other friends who have vbuzzer, rogers, telus, or bell landlines, and they all heard very short hiccups from my voice every 15 seconds or so.
I don't feel any interruption from their voice though.
In terms of wiring, I connected my PAP2T wired directly to the router. The two devices sit beside each other and the Rj45 cable is about 5 feet or shorter.
