can't hear other phones ringing

dialing out from home pc, everything is working, people can hear my phone ringing etc, except... when I call out I can't hear peoples phone ringing or busy signal, just silence until they pick up. incoming calls the ring here works etc.
any help appreciated

If your audio is fine once the call is connected, and all that is happening is that you are missing the audio of the outgoing 'line ringing' tones while the call is setting up to connect, then this behavior, unfortunately, is common to the softphone PC applications. My main FPL account has the same issues, and there
seems to be information to indicate that this is an issue with the software (softphone) itself and not the network or system supporting the call.

I have similar issues, for the most part. One thing that I seem to have found LESSENS this, is if you do a "throw away" call first; just as an experiment, before you place your next call, try calling this number: 604-664-9010 (don't worrry, it is a weather RECORDING from Environment Canada, does not matter when/how many times you call it--I use this and others a lot for "testing"). Just let the call connect until you hear some audio, disconnect the call, and then place your regular call as normal --- see if you now get correct 'line ringing' audio for your call.

thanks mate, unfortunately didn't work, tried a couple times, still silence until someone picks up. oh well, I'll live with it, certainly not a deal breaker, everything else is cool.

still happening, I thought it wouldn't bother us but its kind of a hassle not being able to hear the phone ringing of people we're calling.
