Incoming Calls Not Possible After Porting

Post by Luke »

Hi, all. I initiated a phone number port back in the beginning of the month, and I received confirmation on the 17th of Jan. that the port was completed. However, since then, when attempting to call my number using a variety of phone providers, it never connects successfully. For instance, on Telus landline, I get a busy signal; on Telus Mobility, it says the phone number is not on service; on Speakout, it drops the call; and on Google Voice, it just keeps on ringing.

Strangely, I am able to receive incoming text messages. It is also possible to dial out, and others can see my phone number on their Call Display.

Just curious how long before a port becomes successful? Also, last week (1/21) I had e-mail support but have still yet to hear from anyone. Thanks!

Hi, Seagame, thanks for the quick response.

The port request was initiated on Jan. 2nd. On Jan. 17th, I receive an e-mail containing the following: "Your phone number porting is now complete and your Fongo mobile phone service will automatically update with your ported phone number within 24 hours. You will need to call your previous service provider to cancel your telephone service with them as we cannot do this on your behalf."

I have contacted my previous provider and ensured that my account with them was cancelled. Are you saying it will still take a full 10 business days from the day I received the successful port e-mail? Thanks again.

Hi Luke,

If you've received the completion email then your number is already on our network and ready to go! When a porting date was confirmed we would have also sent you an email, but if you don't remember seeing that one then it may have been caught in a spam filter perhaps.

Steve, the OP already received a confirmation email.

... Thanks!
From my own experience (2 port-ins) from 2 years ago, I had to call in and on both occassions, FPL_kris must have flicked his fingers because my FPL phone magically worked before I could even say bye on my cellphone.

The difference is that I have FPL and he has the Fongo app.

Hi, Steve, Bing Kol. Thank you for your responses.

Yes, I have received the e-mail saying porting is completed. It's been over 10 days now but yet I don't believe the porting was done properly. Worse still, I have e-mail tech support last week and no one has yet gotten back to me.

Does anyone know how I can reach Fongo by phone? It seems that they have recently changed their support processes : http://support.fongo.com/entries/22899213-contact-fongo

Thanks!

They dropped phone support recently.
