Tuesday October 6th - Planned Early-Morning Downtime

Post by FONGO_steve »

At approximately 3AM Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday October 6th there will be a planned service maintenance outage.

The system vendor themselves are coming in to do maintenance and repairs for us in an attempt to clear up all these small problems and outages that keep occurring lately since their last mandatory update we had to do.

The estimation they have given us is that we shouldn't expect much more than 30-60 minutes of downtime, but please be prepared that this could always take longer than planned. We are hoping that by doing this in the early hours of the morning that it shouldn't affect our customers who will mostly be asleep during that time.

We will keep you updated here on any news as it progresses tomorrow. If you are experiencing problems tomorrow then please use this thread as a central reporting location.

Updates seemed to go without a hitch and downtime was very very short.

Any users out there experience anything worth noting? Ie. less problems than before, better call quality, anything of the likes?

Yes!!!!

Stable it seems, I have had less issues over the last 24hrs. I can say the past few weeks were a bit rough but it seems to be crystal clear yesterday and so far today!

Thanks!

Yep - Looks like there is something that's crept up on us today. Gotta love how this just happens out of nowhere... Technicians are on it as we speak. I likely won't have an update before my business day is over here, but they will continue to work on it. I should know some details tomorrow morning I hope.

Steve, thanks a lot for the updates. That makes a huge difference - at least we are 'in the know' on what's going on.

How about creating a 'sticky' topic on the Announcement board and restrict the posts only to FPL support team (Kris & Steve?), so that we can subscribe to it and receive any notification in the change of status automatically as it happens? Subscribing the 'annoucement' topic where everyone can post is not that practical (at least for me) - starting to receive all kind of irrelevant messages, like this one :)

I actually was going to do that this morning - definitely got side tracked though :)

I'm updating the email lists to include the entire post, not just an email that has a link and says "Oh look, a post!"

Any updates on the problem. I'm not able to make any phone calls also when someone calls up, I don't get to hear anything. Is this related to the same problem or is this something else. Please advice.
Thanks

This is the same problem as far as we can tell that has been intermittent for the past month. We are planning either a move of systems or complete re-haul of it.

This will most likely not effect you guys sinec it will be done from 3:00AM - 8:00AM EST.

Again, this is what I have heard. I'll update you with more info tomorrow when I can talk to the company.
