Fongo Works to replace Home phone

Postby little-star » 03/26/2021

Just wondering whether it's a good idea to replace my home phone with Fongo Works
Do I need a business address?
What's the advantage of Fongo Works compared to Fongo home phone
I think this use a different app. Do I need a VoIP phone or can I use an analog phone?

Why can't you do both? Get another phone number form FongoWorks for free. Play with it. If it suits your needs, you can then port your home phone number over.

You do not need a business address.

Fongo Works is a cloud based PBX.

If I wanted to use a Voip phone or an ATA, Is there a monthly fee over and above the purchase price?
This description on the new web site is bit confusing..

I wouldn't say that Fongo Works was a drop in replacement for Fongo Home. Fongo Works is more of a switchboard.

I could be wrong, but I think you are more looking for Free Phone Line (https://www.freephoneline.ca/) which is a sister company of Fongo.
This is a drop in replacement for Fongo Home with some differences.

There is a one time fee for FPL ($99.95 I believe currently), then you don't have to pay anything ever again. Bar the initial config file I haven't paid anything to FPL for the last 10+ years.
You have to provide your own VoIP adapter. The same sort of box they sent you for Fongo Home.
They do not provide free support. You are kind of on your own, although people here will try and help where they can. If you have to ask them for help, then there is a fee is the issue isn't on their end.
There are a lot of guides on here that cover most adapters, so if you are reasonably competent on a computer you should be able to set it up. You can always take a look at a guide ahead of time to see if you feel you can follow it. viewforum.php?f=15

All the calling areas are the same as with Fongo Home as well as costs for calling outside the free areas (e.g. US).
As with Home Phone there is a fee for porting in your number, but you can just use the free number they give you.
FPL is a more of a DIY version of Fongo Home.

I believe it will cost you $15 a month to hook up to an ATA. I believe there is a $15 set up fee.

Try the service out with android phones first, to see if it will meet your needs. I do not think you know what you want, and Fongo Works is probably not for you, but at one time, it was not for me either, until I found a use for it. Play around with it, it is free.

I think the the monthly fee is for an ATA, if that's "Bring Your Own Device"
Please see this link and towards the bottom of the page
https://www.fongo.com/fongoworks/

Can anyone please confirm, Thanks!

Bring Your Own Device
$5/month + $15 set up fee (per user)

If you intend to BYOD, a Fongo Works Pro subscription is also required, which is $10 a month. So it is a $15 setup fee, and then $15 a month for both the device and Fongo Works Pro subscription.

If I buy the hardware from Fongo, how does that work..
Do I still pay the monthly fee and setup fee over and above the pro subscription with their hardware?
