New Features
I have seen this discussed a little in the forums but have not been able to find an answer. I assume this means there has been not yet been any new information provided by the devs, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Users of the free Dell Voice fongo service have no-cost softphone apps available to them, with SMS functionality planned for the apps, and also have a better working desktop softphone app. Will paying freephoneline.ca users (or simply all FPL users) see similar services implemented, or will FPL be the lesser of the two services? Will dell voice apps ever be made to work with FPL numbers? If FPL becomes the old forgotten service, will users of this service be required to pay the full amount in order to switch over to Dell Voice?

Re: New Features
freephoneline is Fongo's own service and will never be forgotten or made a lesser service. You can expect to see many updates coming to the freephoneline service in the coming months

Re: New Features
SMS is on the table due to popular demand but I'm not in a position to comment on any sort of timelines.

Re: New Features
Pitching in my two cents as an observation ... popular request, but requires major re-work and upgrade on FPL/DV/Fongo side ... am I close? I would guess that making the existing platform a bit more robust and stable would be first before introducing other elements?FONGO_steve wrote:SMS is on the table due to popular demand but I'm not in a position to comment on any sort of timelines.
(Note I did not mention a calendar!)

Re: New Features
There are words in the breeze that an update of the FPL softphone app is indeed in the works -- whether or not there are feature additions in the works, or simply bug-fixes for existing problems is unknown. IMHO, any improvement (ESPECIALLY bug-fixing annoying issues!) would be very welcome, even without addition of new features!

Re: New Features
I guess an update to the app would be nice. I don't use it because I strongly disliked it when I last tried it out. Would prefer to have features added though.

Re: New Features
I think every one looks forward for adding SMS to FPL. It would make FPL will be in the lead of VOIP in Canada.

Re: New Features
I am not sure that this will ever be added to FPL, to be honest, as it seems to be the more stripped down basic version. And with the branding agreements in place, this sort of makes sense, so to speak, as the people that pay the bills to support the rest of us want THEIR version to be featured more prominently and have all the shiney new bells and whistles.seagame2001 wrote:I think every one looks forward for adding SMS to FPL. I do though, think that OLDER/more stock stuff should get BUGFIXES and corrections to make them function correctly!

Re: New Features
I am sorry for my ignorant question - I am new to FPL and do not understand it completely.
I have the VOIP homeline. Do I have access to a FPL app? Or a FPL computer program? Currently, I have set up a phone adapter and am running it as a regular VOIP line.
These developments seem very promising. Can someone - including someone from the actual company - please advise or direct me to an appropriate link / thread?
Thanks.

Hello,
If you are using FONGO home phone (not freephoneline as there is no mobile app) you can use Fongo on the fongo mobile app.
however, if you sign up for Fongo home phone, the account will not work on the mobile app as it will be set up to run through a different set-up (this includes changes on our side that allow it to connect to the servers in a different manner on the back end)

Re: New Features
Forgive me, but my two readings of your message lead me to contradictory conclusions. I do not see how your para 1 and para 2 are consistent with one another.
Very clearly - Can one use both Fongo through the home line AND throught the mobile app? This is my intention.
Merci.
