Referral Program

Post by bluevenom »

This is just a suggestion but It would be AWSOME if FPL had a Referral Program where if we were to Refer a friend or family member that would purchase a config that we would get $5 or something.
That would give us incentive to tell everyone we know to change over to FPL.
FPL would get a lot more customers signing up because of all the word of mouth advertising they’d be getting.
So, If we referred 10 friends we would get the $50 that we paid for the config back, and FPL would get $450.
Seems like a win-win Right? :D

Even if it's credit only, could use it to buy the LD plans or an ATA.
Actually, that reminds me...
I do a lot of networking (as in computers, as well as people.) around my town...
I need to get my hands on an ATA, or find my old Linksys ATA from Vonage and flash it so I can start really demonstrating FPL to people. (have it set up on SIP software on my palm 700p and on my netbook... but I really need to demonstrate it on a phone to some people, probably have 4 families that would replace their home phones ;)

Yeah, thats a good idea too...
Just save up credits and use it to get stuff.
Im sure there are alot of people who would demonstrate their FPL to their friends if there was something in it for them.

True, I believe its a win-win situation...
I know of another Voip provider that is offering a Referral Program and it works quite well.

A referal program gets people to advertise a lot. I for one not only do I talk about it but also posted free ads on Kijiji.

As I live in a town that makes it for now impossible to port my number (Hawkesbury, Ontario where by the way there are over 45 000 households in its rates center and is 100Km east of Ottawa and 100Km west of Montreal where porting is available) I have an Ottawa number. I cannot call my next door neighbour with my FPL as it would be a long distance so I'm stuck with Bell also.

But if I refer someone and could even get just one month of long distance that would be great (and long distance is only $3,95/month).

Referral program is a great idea. Please, if you ever to implement it, make it web friendly - allow us to use aff ids and aff urls so that we would not have to ask people we refer to tell you our names and then to call you to confirm the referral - I really hate how acanac implemented their referral program. thank you.

Good idea... the only reason that stops us from referring is because we get nothing for it. But on the other hand, if there were any incentives, then I'm sure we all get up on our asses and start referring like crazy, which will result in a BIGGER volume for FPL than the way it is now.

LOL Well, I see the growth of FPL an incentive, as they can offer us more, but it'd still be nice to get a month of free long distance right? :D

The main thing that keeps me from being a bigger promoter is testing, until I've found my old linksys ATA and have a chance to test many many different ways of using the service so I can support what ever the users I refer are going to do, I don't feel comfortable telling grandma to get it ;)

Anyone who is used to computers, or even remotely techno-competent, I've told to get on board already.

I want to buy 10 SIP config for friends but I'm not sure if FPL will terminate my account. Since I use Asterisk, every one want all the features that Asterisk can deliver but ATA don't. I plan to put all 10 account on my Asterisk server (so, we can share the cost).

I'm not sure that 10 account from same IP is abused.

To me referral is not big deal since FPL is free service. They need money to run the service.
But if they only allow ATA, I will have to go for other provider that fully support Asterisk.

Cheers,
Sukasem

That would raise our flags, sorry.

The request is in and circulating, but as you'll see over the next couple of months, there are many much larger (and quite exciting) things on their way first.
We haven't forgotten about it though! We just need to get a few things out of the way before new things can start.
