Pickup Voicemail from Landline or Cellphone

I wondered if there is a way to pick up voice mail from a land line or cell phone? If not a suggestion would be for user to dial own voip number and then press certain keys to access voicemail (ie: press * or # while voice announcemnt is playing). That way the user doesn't have to remember another number (ie: 1-800 number) and doesn't have to turn on computer to access softphone or listen to voicemail sent to email.
This would be handy too if you are not at home or not in an area with WIFI access for the laptop, simply dial in to your own number to pick up voice mail.
