sip settings activation

Post by bilaliz »

I requested to get the sip settings for my FPL, and i was told that i will receive the settings between 5-10 business days, i was waiting and waiting and.... 10 days past and i didnt get any email or call, and then i just randomly logged in to the website and to my surprise the settings were there!
point to be noted: it would be very nice to recieve an email notification once the settings have been made available (for rest of the crowd of course, since i have already gotten mine) :)

other than that ... the service is great!

I agree with bilaliz. Too much delay and absolutely no feedback.
Once the payment is received you should send at least e-mail like E-Bay or Paypal.
There should be more payment options given. At present only credit card over the phone accepted.

Yes this is true mjbad2 we only accept credit card which I must say is easier for me that DD or Cheque because then I have to make sure that amount of money stays in my account for a week!

We are currently working on what you said above bilaliz - Emailing you when you SIP settings are ready and in your account.

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by activate.

Once you register an automated system will email you with a 3 digit PIN Code and then when you click the "Call Me Now" button on your FPL account another automated system will call your "Other Phone Number" and ask you to enter the PIN.

ONLY ENTER THE PIN AND WAIT FOR THE PHONE TO HANG UP -- DO NOT PRESS POUND OR YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DEACTIVATED AND CANCELLED

You may then log out of you FPL account and log back in.

After you give you credit card it takes 2 - 4 days to process the card, we have been pretty quick at these lately gettings them done mostly the same day.

mjbad2 If I could please have your FPL number (email it to fpl_admin@295.ca) I will look into this and get it to you right away. In the mean time, look in your FPL account.

Thanks

That is a good idea although it will probably be a while before we can do that - look at 1011295.ca for our other service like this.

It bypasses your current providors LD service (From a BELL LANDLINE ONLY) and adds our own prices under "Misc Charges" on their monthly bill.

It would be nice to get something like this for FreePhoneLine, but currently it only runs through a landline telephone and there isn't much noise about this feature being added anytime soon as we would have to er program a lot of the system which would be bothersom to all users of FPL since they would all be down for quite some time.

Thanks

Actually, I would like to clarify the above mentioned 10-11-295 service. It works ONLY with a local Bell landline. Visit 1011295.com for details in english. 1011295.ca for details in french. The rates are also listed.

Basically, the way Freephoneline works (and will for at least the next while) is that it is only possible to dial a local number. Since the list of numbers that are considered local to Freephoneline.ca are often considered long distance to other companies, Freephoneline has the best local calling area. The way that the long distance provided by Freephoneline works is that you first call a local number, then you are connected to a long distance number. Any calling service that works in this way can be used with a Freehoneline account. You do not need to purchase long distance through Freephoneline. Our partners at Worldline.ca are among the cheapest long distance providers, but if you wish to use another company, the only requirement is that they use 2-stage dialing. As long as the first number dialed is local to the Freephoneline network, you can use it.

Having an understanding of how difficult it is to modify packages on this free system, we can be pretty sure it will be a while before calling outside of the local network will be made available without a long distance package - especially since the long distance package exists so we don't need to be able to call out of the local calling area. Also, if this feature ever did become available, there would be a monthly charge for it. The reason that Freephoneline is free is because we are able to find the cheapest routes of sending VoIP signals throughout certain cities. THe more remote the city, the harder it is to send a free signal. The furthur out of the province, the harder it is to send a free signal. Basically, the range that Freephoneline has is dependant on what we can provide to you for free. The areas that cost money are long distance - and we provide a long distance pacakage for that reason. Ultimately, we wouldn't be in business if we were giving you something free while paying money to keep it running. That is why all long distance (calls that cost us money to provide you) must be through a paid package. Regardless of what upgrades happen within Freephoneline, long distance will cost money.

At the current moment we are satisfied with our current solution through Worldline. It may be possible to eventually extend the Freephoneline local calling area or to create paid long distance packages within the Freephoneline system itself in the future, but we do not have any estimated dates when that will be available.

Okay guys, you will all be happy to know that the new version of the FPL is up with a few updates, including an automated email whenever SIP settings are shown for a user.

Thanks!

We do say 7-10 business days for delivery of SIP settings :)
This will be faster in the future when we get an automatic billing system in place.. whenever that happens ;)

Are you calling us from your freephoneline? If so, try the 226 support numbers are the bottom of our contact page. Or any of the support numbers should work from a landline. The phone system itself is fine, but for some reason incoming SIP calls to it have been problematic on some of the numbers.
