Questions

Post by ohmer »

Hello,

I'm thinking to move from Primus TBB an go with FPL with the 50$ config file. I have some questions.

About 9-1-1 :
* I'm not sure about what I have read on your web site. Do you provide E-911 service (call sent directly to the 911 call center) or Basic 911 (dispatch by an operator before reaching 911 call center) ?

About my phone number :
* I plan to transfers my current phone number to FPL (LNP). Don't want to offense you, but it's a free service... what happen with my phone number if you disappear one day ?

About telephony features
* Do you support call transfer (*72) ?
* Do you support 3-way calling ?
* Do you support call waiting ?

About network latency
* Can I have the IP of your SIP server ? I would like to test latency from my dsl connection (ping/traceroute).

About French :
* Can my voicemail prompt be set to French ? Nobody that call me speak English, so this would like alien if my voicemail prompt is in English (don't ask to record my own message, I never do that :D).
* Do you have some bilingual support staff ?

Thanks !

Hello Ohmer,

About 9-1-1 :
* We provide direct E-911 service included with the service when you buy the configuration file.

About my phone number :
* Porting costs $19.95. It is a free service yes, but check out Fibernetics.ca and you will see you have no intention of going out of business. Fibernetics is out "Parent" company which is currenly one of if not the largest Business VoIP Phone providor in Canada - It's like FPL, Only much more expensive, with only a one time payment and the monthly purchase of our DSL & Dryloop (which is a DATA ONLY line and is MUCH more stable than most other lines).

About telephony features :
* Call transfering on a regular ATA - No, but if you were using a SIP or IP/PBX (Polycom) phone you would be able to.
* Same as above.
* Yes, on both regular ATA's as well as SIP/IP/PBX phones.

About network latency
* You can ping our server (voip.freephoneline.ca) and it will give you the IP which you can do a trace-route with.
ie. Pinging voip.freephoneline.ca [xxx.xx.xxx.xxx] with 32 bytes of data:

About French :
* French voicemail is currently being worked on and will be active soon. Spanish VM will be implemented at the same time French is.
* We do have bilingual support staff, we have a lot here in Canada for French, Spanish, German, and a few other languages, as well as a call center in the Dominican Republic which are English, Spanish, and French. The English speaking agents down there are very fluent in English and French, as well as Spanish (of course).

Hi,

I learned from this post and your reply that you support 3 way calling and call waiting. But somewhere I thought I saw that you only support one voice channel. Do not you need to provide atleast 2 voice lines in order to be able to use 3 way or call waiting? I have an Acanac number that I pay yearly but I get unlimited calls to US and Canada, can I transfer that line and then what additional fee on top of the $50 config fee that I will have to use to get unilimited US and Canada?

I also have a VBUzzer but only buzzme (Incoming Only), Do you know if I can transfer number from VBuzzer?

If I can transfer both Acanac and VBuzzer then I would need to pay $50 + $50 right? And any additional fee for long distance only, right? Can I then use the longdistance fee for both number transfered or only one?

Thanks,

Kim

With our long distance service (international (Can, US, 50+ Countries) $13.95 monthly -- You can add 2 numbers to it (both FPL numbers, porting is 19.95 in addition to the config file cost.

All other payments are one time.

ALL numbers are able to be ported with the exception of certain area codes.

Here is a image of all the area codes in Canada, I will provide updates as to what we can an cannot port shortly.

You may port your number into an existing FPL number that you have already purchased a config file for.

UPDATE : THIS IS A LIST OF ALL CITIES AVAILABLE TO BE PORTED :

Porting can take upwards of 4 weeks, so I'd recommend at least notifying us 4 weeks before you're done with Acanac. It's your choice if you want to notify us any sooner.
After porting is complete, your number is released back into the system again to be re-used by anyone who signs up from your area. If you want to keep that number on a new account then you'll need to notify us ASAP after porting is complete and we will see if we can manually create you an account and still get that number back.

If you want to keep your certified FPL number, you would have to register and certify ($50) a new number to be ported over.
