Ads on Fongo Mobile with Fongo Wireless

Hi,
My husband has just gotten a mobile phone and we used Fongo mobile with a Fongo Wireless monthly package. He is getting advertising popups like you do with free apps, I have the same set-up for years and I don't get any ads popping up. I though if you pay to use Fongo Wireless with the Fongo mobile app then you don't get ads popping up. Am I wrong?
