I have the same issue with my phone number even few months after the problem being reported.
I activated the syslog in my ATA adapter and I discovered that the server send the indication that there is a message waiting, but the mailbox is empty.
I installed a syslog server on my computer and enabled the syslog diagnostic on my ATA.

Here is the message I receive from freephoneline (fongo) server.

Code: Select all

2012-10-04 16:48:10 user.notice 192.168.xx.xxx (masqued for security reasons)

Messages-Waiting: Yes
If a clear the Voicemail indicator flag on my ATA adapter, it comes back on after few minutes. If I leave it, the message indicator never disapears.
The server says "Message-Waiting: Yes". How can my ATA knows when there is really a message in the inbox?
I think the problem come from freephoneline servers. Everything works fine except the Voicemail indicator.

Thanks Fongo for your help on this one. I see that I'm not the only one.

I tested this morning and the VM indicator works fine.

Here is my test;
7h13 - Message left
7h14 - SIP NOTIFY: VMI notification ON - "Messages-Waiting: Yes"
7h17 - Message took/erased
7h17 - SIP NOTIFY: VMI notification OFF - "Messages-Waiting: No"

I don't know what Fongo did but the VMI works perfect this morning.

Today (Oct 10) same issue.
I took my message (empty my voicemail) about 4 hours ago. The server is still sending "Messages-Waiting: Yes".

And Fongo don't want to help me or even listen to me over the phone. (I "just" baugth the VoIP unlock key).

I was doing a bunch of packet captures this morning while testing some unrelated MWI settings and in all instances my new message and cleared message notifications were within a matter of minutes. Have you tried a different user agent to see if the results vary? Does the user agent write to the syslog server, or are you doing a packet capture using a hub on the LAN?

Also, do note that VoIP unlock keys (without an ATA purchase) do not quality for phone or email support from Fongo, only community support and FAQ.

It was not packet captures, it's my ATA box that send syslog messages to my syslog server.

I will try using a SIP softphone later tonight and post the results.

Tested with a softphone (VOP nano) and I still receive voicemail notification even if I don't have messages in my mailbox. I cleared my mailbox 3 hours ago.

I have the same issue using a softphone (VOP nano) & an ATA (OBi110).

Can you fire me a PM with your phone number? I'll check/reset a few things on the server side and see if that has any impact.
