Invalid reference e-mail

Today I tried to register for free phone service numerous times.

After filling out the registeration page and clicking on submit, I get the error message "Invalid reference e-mail".

I've tried other email addresses and each time I got the same error message as above.

Help please.

Are you typing a complete email address? ie. name@domain.com

As of 5:42am PDT, the Bug Reports page shows 2 replies. However, the thread itself has only 1 reply.

I now discovered it is my own 2nd post that is counted as a reply, meaning there was in fact only 1 reply from admin.

Not sure what you're getting at... A lot of issues we fix before we post, that way there isn't too much of a wait time. The thread by Jake has a response from me, just a question from one technical enthusiast to the next.

My current and only problem is the response I got when I try to register for phone service.

I've just tried again and still unable to registered.

I am still getting the "Invalid reference e-mail " error message.

It looks like you will have to register for me as I am still getting the "Invalid e-mail reference" error message.

Alright! Sorry about that, the issue has been resolved. No more reference emails required!

When I tried to call my freephoneline number from a Bell cell phone, a recorded message stated the freephoneline number is a long idstance call. The Bell cell and freephoneline number both have the same area code.

Yes... This is an issue we've been fighting Bell on for a few weeks now. It's a problem with their mobile numbers on their network (Including Virgin Mobile, etc...) not being able to call any Fibernetics Exchange, which the business portion of what we do.

Since the only people they will offer support to are owners authorized on a Bell account, we're encouraging our customers to call in an explain as high up as they can, that you are unable to call a local number, from ANY Fibernetics Exchange...

Tonight, 25 Jan, I tried to register a FPL number for a friend and again got the "Invalid e-mail reference" error message.

It seems this problem just won't go away.

Is anyboy else experiencing this problem ?

We're doing a bit of r&d if you will, do see how much or how little business expands when those fields are in place, you must put a valid email there, and of course if you do not know or have an email to put, just put in a fake one. Both fields must have an email address in order to register successfully though.

When I tried to register my own FPL number last Fri, I ran into this problem.

Admin finally had to register for me.

Last night I tried to register for a friend, and the same "Invalid reference e-mail" problem cropped again.

Admin's above reply stated that "Both fields must have an email address in order to register successfully though."

The registration page shows only ONE field where an e-mail address is required. Nowhere is there a field called "Reference e-mail".

Yes, I did fill in a complete e-mail address.

Item 5, at the bottom, have 2 fields called "Referral E-mail", both with a * beside the field. Usually a * means a mandatory field. Could this be the problem.

Yes if you read my post above again I believe I indicated that they are indeed mandatory. It is in hopes of expanding our customer base and get a line established for emails sent to customers registered, in laymens terms: If we buy 300 numbers, and send out 300 emails inviting people to sign up for them, what is the ratio of emails sent to numbers taken.

At first, Admin's above reply mystified me. It seemed not on topic. I've gone back and read Admin's most recent reply several more times.

I see the problem now.

Item 5, "Invite friends", are in fact required fields.

Item 5 uses the term "Referral E-mail" whereas the error message uses the term "...reference E-mail".

Filling in both Referral Email 1, 2 is mandatory in order to register.

I would suggest the the error message wording be changed to "Invalid referral e-mail".
