can NOT call 800/877/866 or domestic long distance

tried call over a week period to various free numbers, 877 for staples, 866 for amazon, and 800 free numbers, all ended up with busy signal, same with domestic long distance number to Ottawa and Vancouver. However, i can get through all those numbers by skype or google voice at the same time. International long distance is to Europe and Asia is fine though. anyone has the similar experience and what might be the problems? thank you.

Calling toll free numbers may be restricted to specific area codes callers because the owner pays for the long distance call. Skype and Google Hangouts Dialer do not display the caller id and the 8** number doest not "know" where the call originates.

Alternatively, you can call a local number for Staples.

I used to be able to call free numbers of credit cards at least. but after re-configure my obi100 following the guide here, could not even call credit cards companies. and it's very strange I could make international long distance call to Europe and Asia, but not domestic long distance calls.

Canadian financial institutions toll free numbers can be dialed from any place in Canada or US. The problem may be caused by your ATA. Look at your ATA user guide for "dial plan" rules specific to the model and apply these rules in the configuration.

i'm sorry, what's my "ATA", is that my phone, say VTech or the modem, obi100? if it's the obi100, I don't have user guide and I configured following strictly the guide posted on this forum. even more strange is I tried call the same local 647 number couple of times today, sometimes OK sometimes got rejected citing different reason "480", "482".

PS: if you want to order something over the phone from Staples, you have to call the 877 number though.
