Re: Dropped Calls - Are you experiencing random dropped calls?
One has to be careful in what is reported here as it might mislead others.
Bridonca says to Google Acanac drop calls. I did. The thing is that most of the posts were between the years 2003 and 2007.
We are in 2010 and things evolve and improve. I'm not an Acanap VoIP client. Just saying that VoIP is relatively new in Canada and there's still work to do.
What should really be of concern is the price you pay for what you want (depending on your calling needs there are lots of VoIP plans out there) and the customer service.
As far as I'm concern FPL also have their issues. Although I love what they are or do I completely disagree when not refunding when they're in fault, When CEO sends email asking if issue is resolved and don't reply to your negative answer or when erasing negative comment on their Facebook page.
I'm not here to sacrifice FPL I'm just saying as all other companies they have issues and when giving information (this is what this forum is for) then we should try to state the facts as they are for people depend on all of us to make wise choices.

Re: Dropped Calls - Are you experiencing random dropped calls?
Callopsitte has some good points, though the dropped calls and callerid issues with Acanac were in the 2003 - 2007 era and are now resolved, it doesn't change the fact that they did exist - and for quite a while longer that ours has thus far.
I will not refute that it has indeed been a long drawn out process, I will however say that all services have their issues that are eventually worked out, and to not give up hope.

I am answering this here so that nothing can be misconstrued or is open for (mis)interpretation; Our CEO's main concern is running the company, as for your long email I believe it was answer in part by both Tom and I, the "negative answer" I'm not 100% sure what you are referring to, but I am going to assume you mean your negative responses to our refund policy. Facebook post deletions occurred at a time where the accusations being made were from some misunderstandings and misinterpretations that were made. Of course after these were sorted out anything further was a valid concern or grievance and no further deletions occurred.Although I love what they are or do I completely disagree when not refunding when they're in fault, When CEO sends email asking if issue is resolved and don't reply to your negative answer or when erasing negative comment on their Facebook page.

Re: Dropped Calls - Are you experiencing random dropped calls?
Dear Dear Kris,
I will NOT again talk about my case here or rather the issues that I once had.
Yes some answers were given by Tom. I've then started working on getting correspondance from other companies about a POI in my city.
About the CEO I'm saying that He, himself has emailed me about the discussed issues. But after emailing him back I haven't heard again from him.
About Facebook I was not talking about my posts 2 months ago regarding my issues that were not in any way misleading people (I must add it was my unique case and of course FPL will argue about it). I'm talking about a post not further than 5 days old from today from a woman "who was to subscribe to FPL but decided not after reading (2 links she posted)". That post has been deleted yesterday.
So what I am finally saying is that whatever the VoIP provider there will be issues just like any other companies. And if we are to talk about them then let's make it clear that they are OUR issues and not of 1000 other persons. That facts are important (dates, etc.).

Re: Dropped Calls - Are you experiencing random dropped calls?
While I think it's helpful to get a sense of how many people are having the problem, I assume it would be much more helpful in terms of assisting Admin's to isolate the problem if along with the problem being reported the post could contain the time of the termination and date of the call. To do that the following steps outlined below may be of some help:
As soon as you get a dropped call, do this:
1: Login to your account here: http://www.freephoneline.ca/myDetails
2: Click on "Call Logs"
3: Hit the 'Show' Button.
4: Your dropped call will be at the top of the list, unless you immediately had to recall that party, in which case your dropped call will be second from the top.
5: Copy and then paste the information on the top line under the 'Disconnect time' header and post it here and perhaps PM it to Steve.
6: Make sure that your hardware is listed under your profile on the right.
Now when someone else looks at your post maybe they were on their FPL line at the same time and they can say, 'Hmm, I got dropped at the same time,' and then that information may help narrow down the investigation.
It's great Steve has reopened this thread, and I'm sure those of us that want to get this problem sorted would not only agree on thanks for that, and also encourage him to delete any posts here that aren't on topic.

Re: Dropped Calls - Are you experiencing random dropped calls?
One of three major upgrades was done on the service today. It was one of two server software upgrades, a hardware upgrade is still to come.
I also have a significant amount of tickets open with vendors, our programmers and various other co-workers.
Let's see if any of these have any impact.

Re: Dropped Calls - Are you experiencing random dropped calls?
Is anyone else seeing any changes or improvements after this weekend? A few more modifications were made with our internal routing.
Casper - how many calls a day would you say you're dropping still? Is it any less than before (or more)?

Re: Dropped Calls - Are you experiencing random dropped calls?
For the past two weeks I had my FPL forwarded to a new DID to help solve the dropped calls problem. Tonight I stopped the forwarding, and then called my new DID line from my FPL line. I left both lines open while we watched a movie, etc. During that time I had about a dozen active torrents running as well. After 2 1/2 hours the call did not drop, so it looks promising so far.
Now if Name Display would work, and call blocking/filtering, and if I could call my FPL line from a Rogers Cell phone (a few nice touches I'm enjoying on the new DID), all would be perfect!

How are the rest of you doing in this regards? I've heard about a lot of improvements via PM lately, so I'm crossing my fingers it's all around?

Re: Dropped Calls - Are you experiencing random dropped calls?
We never gave you a definitive "Yes it is your hardware", we wanted to eliminate your hardware as the problem first.
Regardless, this issue appears to be resolved - I will leave this topic unmarked for another week and then mark it as [RESOLVED] - It will still remain open though.

Re: Dropped Calls - Are you experiencing random dropped calls?
beverly,
You may want to try another phone handset in order to eliminate the one you are using as a possible culprit. I haven't noticed any audio problems like that with the FPL network and I'm usig the same ATA as you.

Re: Dropped Calls - Are you experiencing random dropped calls?
this one is not related to just FPL cause it happens with MJ. its either two phone close by on DECT 1.9Gz or network/Rogers. it hasn't done this before till i added another DECT phone (nope just tested this). upgraded to a cloned modem (this is my problem).TSellers wrote:beverly,
