Incoming Calls go directly to voicemail

Post by HappyCamper »

Hi,

I have been a happy freephoneline user for over 2 years, and have got other relatives on the service.

When it works, it works great, but after a period of time the service gives problems. Mainly it is that incoming calls go to voicemail, or get busy signal.

This happens in multiple homes with different network equipment.

The solution is to power down all equipment for 20mins.

Any idea why this is happening, and any suggestions on how to mitigate?

Thanks!

Blame the router/modem. Your router no longer has any idea where to send incoming RTP packets. If I were to guess, the THOMSON ST516 is getting in the way, because it is known to have an awful router bundled in with that modem.

What I would do is disable the router in the THOMSON ST516, and get a good router to control the PPPoE login. I would find a router that can be flashed to DD-WRT, and manually forward and RTP port from the router to the Grandstream device. I believe the default RTP port for a Grandstream is 5004, but double check to make sure.

I getting very annoyed here with this issue and the lack of responses on this board.
Happy camper did you find a solution to this problem.
Did you replace your Thompson modem with a different modem?
If so which one?
Thank you
