Need help with SPA112 with Rogers

Post by phantom »

Hi

I need help getting my phone back online.
I been using fpl since the early days and have setup friends so i am not new at this.
But this i am not sure whats going on.

My old PAP2T died and i bought a new CISCO SPA112.
I updated the firmware and configured the box based on the latest sticky for this box.
Even tried the Voip4 url since it is for the rogers.
No Go.
I tried the one that is in my settings when i log into the fpl account.
No go.

It just says registration failed.
I even DMZ my router to this device. Same thing.
I see in the Voice sip messges sent some numbers but nothing for sip messages received.

How do i see the log? or know what error i am running into.

Please help

A couple of things I would check are the UN and password.

The username as you know is your full phone number including the initial 1.
With the password a some of the characters can look the same in the font they use on the site 0oO1lI for example. Copy the password into notepad or something similar where the characters are easier to see. the address bar of a browser should work also. If you copy and paste the password directly be careful, sometimes an extra space can sneak in on the end. Again, paste it into notepad so you can see what you are dealing with.

Double check your timers as if you try and register / re register too often the server will block you for a time. I don't think that is happening here as you say you have tried different servers which will usually temporarily make it look like things are working again, until the new server blocks you.

I can't remember if this is still an issue, but I believe the Display Name can't include the & symbol.

Thanks

I tried that notepad before and tried it now. No go.
double checked the boxes time to make sure it is synced with the current time.

any logs on your end you can help with to see what is happening with the handshaking

OK i got it working

The DNS server was not specified. I always set my boxes and servers to static IP.
As soon as you do that, the DNS section goes into manual.
I had to specify the router and it works.

Thanks for helping
