I'm not ignoring that. I'm saying other users received "Temporary Failure" and wondering what you make of that error.

Once again, you appear to be mistaken. The "Temporary Failure" wasn't received by any user. This was received & logged by FPL's servers instead.

Received "Temporary Failure" in FPL's call log portal

http://www.dialogic.com/webhelp/img1010 ... ss7_cc.htm

ISUP Cause Value SIP Response
41 – temporary failure 503 Service unavailable

I know it appears in FPL's (portal) call log. The error doesn't show on the device. It doesn't show in the ATA or IP Phone call history/log. It's not a SIP client message.
I understand that.

My question remains: what do you make of that error?

I suspect, since the issue is with FPL, you're not going to see anything exciting coming back to you (failover to voicemail), but if you do come across a likely cause, I'll add it to my ticket. Thank you.

Unfortunately, there is nothing to be seen that's abnormal at customer's end.

My question remains: what do you make of that error?

I would say that SIP calls were unable to terminate into SS7 network for some reason, and most likely vice versa. The problem may have very well been with the SS7 network all along, or DID numbers and their porting.
I mean, what puzzles me more is that known working DID numbers were showing as unassigned. Maybe we are talking about a database corruption that hasn't replicated to the other server in due time, maybe a routing issue or a porting issue, it's practically impossible to tell.

Rather, I was informed that it was a DDoS attack, and there was, consequently, a load issue. My earlier analogy was correct.

Support staff isn’t obliged to read the forums or respond here. It’s best to submit a ticket if you're positive the issue isn't on your end: https://support.fongo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

For ongoing, unresolved issues that can’t be fixed with tickets, customers can submit complaints to CCTS:
https://www.ccts-cprst.ca/. I would give Fongo a week to respond to support request tickets first, at least, unless they've been closed
There's a delay in ticket responses due to COVID-19.

Other places to look for info include https://status.fongo.com/ (I don't see anything interesting yet) and https://twitter.com/Fongo_Mobile/with_replies (again, I don't see anything related).

Fongo's service phone number is 647-847-1355. I'm skeptical that anyone is answering calls though, and they don't work on weekends.

Based on my call logs, it seems to have been working for me since around 4:00 PM on Sep 04:

...
Sep 04, 2020 3:07:04 PM Unallocated (unassigned) number
Sep 04, 2020 4:05:04 PM Normal call clearing
...

It appears that they have resolved the problem.

Okay, since I can't reproduce the issue, I have to rely on reports from others. I guess I'll mark this thread as resolved. Thank you.

No more 'calls going to VM' problems here, but I just wanted to mention that I'd put in a ticket on Sept.8th, and Fongo checked my line today and emailed me a response to my ticket.

This is the first ticket I've ever submitted, and it's nice to see that they do actually follow up on FPL issues even though their official policy is no support for us (other than this forum)
