[Resolved for now] GS-HT802 - Calls go to VoiceMail
Greetings all
So I have replaced SP2102 blinking Red with GrandStream HT-802 and have followed line by line guide V2. This has been working fine until yesterday when the calls are now going to VoiceMail. I have attempted factory reset and setup the configuration from scratch to no success. Also on the latest firmware. Just also noticed, I cannot place outgoing calls. Though the status says Registered,
Any of your guidance is appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
Joe.

Re: GS-HT802 - Calls go to VoiceMail
I just tested three FPL numbers. Incoming calls are working.
1. What brand and model modem are you using? Ensure that it's in bridge mode if it's a modem/router combo or gateway. Contact your ISP if you need help enabling bridge mode.
2. In Merlin, navigate to Advanced Settings-->WAN-->NAT Passthrough
Disable SIP Passthrough.
3. In Merlin, navigate to General–>Tools-->Other settings
a) change UDP Timeout: Assured to 115 seconds
b) change UDP Timeout: Unreplied to 15 seconds
3. Dial *79 to disable Do Not Disturb.
4. In your ATA, what are you using for Primary SIP Server?
a) Ensure that "Use Random SIP Port" is enabled.
b) SIP REGISTER Contact Header Uses should be set to WAN address
c) Register Expiration is 60 minutes (note that this setting is in minutes and not seconds)
d) SIP Registration Failure Retry Wait Time should be 120 seconds
e) SIP OPTIONS/NOTIFY Keep Alive Interval should be 20 seconds.
Note that 3a, 3b, 4d, and 4e satisfy the following:
UDP Unreplied Timeout (in your router) < NAT Keep-alive Interval (in your ATA; for Obihai ATAs this is X_KeepAliveExpires; for Grandstream, the setting is SIP OPTIONS Keep Alive Interval) < UDP Assured Timeout (in your router) < SIP Registration Failure Retry Wait Time (or RegisterRetryInterval in Obihai ATAs)
“<“ means less than.
Refer to point D from viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20199#p78976.
5. Login at https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings.
What does "SIP status" show?
Please note that if "SIP User Agent" does not reflect a device you're using, someone else is using your Freephoneline VoIP unlock key.
Only one registration per ATA FXS Port is permitted at any time per Freephoneline VoIP unlock key. Registration is a requirement for incoming calls but not for outgoing calls.
6. If you find after rebooting the ATA you still have problems, change Primary SIP Server to "voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060" without the quotation marks.

Re: GS-HT802 - Calls go to VoiceMail and No Outgoing Calls
Interesting. One of my numbers is suddenly doing the same thing on voip.freephoneline.ca for incoming calls.
Try voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060

Re: GS-HT802 - Calls go to VoiceMail and No Outgoing Calls
Hello @Liptonbrisk. Your prompt response is greatly appreciated. Here are the response to your recommendations
1. Asus EA6900 (v386.3_2 - Merlin), ISP Fido - Modem from Fido set in Bridge Mode
2. Disabled while ago.
3 a + b already done.
4. Can confirm no DND
5. voip.freephoneline.ca. Using anything else results into No Registration
a,b,c,d,e -m DONE
6. SIP Status: connected; SIP User Agent: Grandstream HT802 1.0.37.1
7. Changing primary Server to voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 results into "Not Registered". Correction: I rebooted and then it showed Registered while both the above problems still exists. However, trying outgoing calls, being prompted "that password is not valid".
Thoughts..

Login at https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings to find your sip password.
You've likely entered an extra space either before or after the first character, or you are using a password manager/form filler that is automatically entering the wrong SIP Password.
Try typing in the password manually instead of copying and pasting.
Try this guide: download/file.php?id=2166.

Re: GS-HT802 - Calls go to VoiceMail and No Outgoing Calls
Update:
So after few tries, I have changed to voip2.freephoneline.ca and re-entered SIP Password, applied and rebooted and that seems to have fixed the issue while voip.freephoneline.ca issue remains.

Yes, the problem you had involving voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 was having entered the SIP Password incorrectly in your ATA.GiJoeBlack wrote:Update:

Re: GS-HT802 - Calls go to VoiceMail and No Outgoing Calls
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to thank you GiJoeBlack for bringing up this issue and Liptonbrisk for your answer.
My internet was down this morning, which is unusual and I rebooted my Helix terminal (which is in bridge mode). Once rebooted, I eventually found out that I could not make calls event tough I had a dial tone. I did test with my cell phone to call my FPL number but was directly sent to voicemail.
Since then, I've spent some serious time trying to figure out what was wrong.
And then I've stumbled into this thread. I've changed my primary SIP server to voip4.freephoneline.ca and voilà! It's back to normal.
So the only event that took place that's unusual was my internet connection being down. I did not change anything anywhere. And yes, my Merlin config is as prescribed. My FPL connection has been rock solid since I have it (which is pretty recent, only a few months).
If there's any test I could do to help out, let me know. I'm curious about using voip4.freephoneline.ca... Is this something I should change back at some point?
Regards,
Stéphane

The purpose of voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 is to circumvent SIP ALG, which is often buggy in routers.lord_pepin wrote: I'm curious about using voip4.freephoneline.ca... Is this something I should change back at some point?
See point B from viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20199#p78976.
You can continue using voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 as long as it works well for you.
