Incoming calls are going straight to voicemail.

I have been using call forwarding when I'm out, disabling it when I'm home, so I don't know if that has caused issues that have led to this present problem.

I am at home right now, and call forwarding is disabled. Someone just called me on my cell that calls to tell me when they call my freephoneline line, the phone doesn't even ring; it just goes directly to voicemail. Has using call forwarding messed things up, or is this a universal issue currently affecting all freephoneline users?

Voicemail settings are still unchanged: 5 rings until voicemail.

I had the same issue.
I just switched to voip2.freephonline.ca and incoming calls now ring on my phone

I noticed the same problem on one of my FPL numbers just now.

voip.freephoneline.ca probably needs to be restarted again by Fongo staff.

I'm just going to suggest, for you, not using that server since it appears to be the one that exhibits this issue more than the other two FPL proxy servers.
Use either voip2.freephoneline.ca or voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 instead.

I've sent an email.

The problem appears to be resolved now, but no one has responded to my email. I would guess someone at Fongo restarted the server.

When the call to me went straight through to voicemail, I was not on line 1. I was not on the phone at all. If the problem was Line 2, shouldn't the phone have rung?

I still recommend you switch to a different server if this situation is bothering you enough. Frankly, the others have been more reliable than voip.freephoneline.ca over the past year.

Do you own two separate voip unlock keys? If not, you should expect problems if you're attempting to use both lines simultaneously for incoming calls with the same FPL account.

That's inconsequential. No one has to be on the phone in order for incoming calls to work.

No. Not unless the FPL phone number on Line 2 was both called and registered on Line 2

I never said the problem was line 2. I'm saying the problem is voip.freephoneline.ca since voip.freephoneline.ca wasn't working for incoming calls.
For you, line 1 was using voip.freephoneline.ca

Disabling Line 2 is what you should be doing anyway with just 1 VoIP unlock key.

By line, I mean log into your ATA and Navigate to Voice-->Line 1 and Line 2
Those are two separate lines.
Each one uses its own individual registration.

You can't use Line 1 with 15191234567 and Line 2 with 15191234567 at the same time, regardless of whether two different FPL proxy servers are used.
Only one Line will be registered at any moment.
When Line 2 makes a registration attempt and registers successfully, Line 1 will lose registration, and, consequently, incoming calls will not work on Line 1.
Eventually Line 1 will make a registration attempt (in approximately 3600 seconds), and, if successful, Line 2 will lose registration, and, consequently, incoming calls will not work on Line 2.

Also, too many registration attempts within a short period can cause you to be temporarily IP banned by FPL's proxy server.

Two ATA Lines requires 2 VoIP unlock keys.

Your ATA's setup guide is here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16340 (bottom of the first post). Look at page 5 of the PDF guide. Line 2 is (purposely) disabled in step 8.
If you own two VoIP unlock keys, then you can provision the second one on Line 2.



Only one registration per FPL account is permitted at any time. Registration is required for incoming calls. You can't register both lines simultaneously using the exact same FPL account. A single line on an ATA is one registration.

I know you've told me over and over that only one voip address can be used since I've only paid for one unlock key. I didn't think having something different in Line 2 would matter since it's not active. I guess I'm having trouble understanding how I can have call waiting if there's only one line. Can I juggle two calls at the same time on only one line?

It doesn't. It's not active. Since line 2 is not registered, incoming calls can't ring on it.

Yes. Call waiting is active on any single line and supported by FPL on a single phone number. You can also have a 3-way call on a single line.

Each FPL phone number supports 2 channels: two calls can be active at anytime (1 incoming and 1 outgoing; 2 outgoing; 2 incoming) with a single FPL phone number on any Line.

You didn't add a ":5060" or ":6060" at the end of the voip2 address you listed. Is it supposed to be 5060, too?

voip2.freephoneline.ca uses UDP port 5060. You don't have to specify 5060, since that's the default and understood. You can specify 5060 if you wish for voip2.freephoneline.ca

If a server doesn't use 5060, then you have to specify the port. voip4.freephoneline.ca uses UDP 6060, so it needs to be listed.

As long as line 2 is disabled, it doesn't matter what you do to it.

Maybe it helps if you think of each Line as a separate ATA that you can use to provision a single FPL number.
