Using old smartphones with FPL and OBi200

Hello everyone,

We have been using FPL as a landline for quite some time and it has been great so far! Now some of our DECT handsets are dying so I had the bright idea to use old smartphones as replacements, because there are more of those around the house than handsets now  However I can't find any clear ways to do this through my searching, I think I'm not using the right search terms.

So I am here to ask for help on how to do this, or if this is even possible? To be clear I want to use smartphones as handsets with some working DECT phones on the same FPL line. Currently I have a Obihai200 which all handsets connect to through the house's phone lines.

If anyone here has done something like this or know how to best set this up please let me know. Many thanks!

OBi202s had OBiBT USB adapters, but they're discontinued: https://www.obitalk.com/info/products/obibt.

It used to be possible (and may still be) to use a smartphone as an extension with Obihai ATAs for outbound calling without needing Bluetooth for Freephoneline with OBi200: visit http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php? ... 6#msg39466 (also look at page 2’s interaction with Bogolisk). As the solution for inbound ringing requires the use of a SIP service that we don't support on these forums, you can probably ask at that link for more information if you’re interested or at https://www.dslreports.com/forum/voip.

Thank you Liptonbrisk! My idea was partly motivated to make use of what we already have on hand so the bluetooth adapters will be a plan B I guess.

I will try to follow the obitalk thread or SIP method, although after a quick glance it may be above my skill level lol. I will find time to read up on this and test it out, then come back with an update hopefully soon. Cheers!

Sorry, I should have clarified that won't do what you want. OBiBT is mostly for using a cellular service on phones connected to your OBi200 via Bluetooth.
OBiBT adapter is discontinued regardless.
