[Resolved] SIP Settings on Obihai 202

Post by Jackie66 »

The Free Phone Line requires the Registration Expiration/Interval to be set as 3600s and Failed Registration Re-Try Interval is 120s (https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings).

On the Obihai 202, I set:
RegistrationPeriod: 3600
RegisterExpires: 3600
RegisterRetryInterval: 120

I want to know if the following SIP settings are related. If yes, what is the best value?
RegisterMinExpires: default is 15s
InviteExpires: default is 60s
ReInviteExpires: default is 15s

Are there any other settings on the Obihai 202 need to be changed to follow the Free Phone Line requirements?

Appreciate any help provided.

That's what that setting should be set to for Freephoneline.
However, as far as I can tell, that setting doesn't do anything.

"Register Expires header value in seconds (not used at the moment)."
https://www.obitalk.com/info/documents/ ... nGuide.pdf (page 102)

When I check my syslog files, changing Register Expires doesn't affect the Expires value that is sent in SIP headers.

Having RegistrationPeriod set to 3600 is sufficient.

I want to know if the following SIP settings are related.
They can be left at defaults.
RegisterMinExpires
This sets the minimum amount of time, in seconds, allowed for registration.

It's not the actual Expires value being sent.

Your ATA isn't sending Expires=15 seconds, when RegistrationPeriod is set to 3600 seconds, so you don't need to worry.

Your ATA is sending "Expires=3600" seconds, which is what Freephoneline requires, in SIP headers when RegistrationPeriod is set to 3600 seconds in your OBi202.
InviteExpires
That's the Invite request Expires header value in seconds

That's not related to the Registration Expiry.
ReInviteExpires
That's the Re-invite Expires header value in seconds.

Again, that's not related to the Registration Expiry.
Are there any other settings on the Obihai 202 need to be changed to follow the Free Phone Line requirements?
I recommend going through the PDF guide located at the bottom of the first post at viewtopic.php?f=15&t=18805#p73839.

Afterwards, you can double check your settings against what's listed at at viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20534.

Hi Liptonbrisk,

Thank you for your detailed explanations. The PDF guide and the setting listed at viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20534 are also very helpful. I think I have correct settings now.

Thanks,
Jackie
