Freephoneline and Yealink VOIP phone

Post by ezenga »

Hello, need help !!

I've been using Freephoneline for quit a few years with Linksys pap2T and been enjoying it. However I would like to upgrade my analogue phone to a true VOIP phone (Recently bought a Yealink T27G)
and been informed by the Fongo support team, it is possible to configure my phone to work with a 1 time fee of $15.00 BUT I also need to pay a monthly fee of $5.00, I'm not sure if I read the message correctly about the monthly fee?

has anyone been able to configure their Freephoneline to work with a VOIP phone without the extra monthly fee of $5.00 ?
Thanks in advance

That sounds like they are trying to get you to sign up for Home Phone, which is $4.95 a month https://www.fongo.com/services/fongo-home-phone/

This guide is old (and isn't for your model), but it might help you configure your phone viewtopic.php?f=15&t=10782&p=54488&hilit=yealink#p54488
There seems to be a few videos/guides as well you could follow https://www.google.com/search?q=configu ... alink+T27G

I don't recall anyone mentioning that phone before, so you might have to have a poke around in the UI and see what you can work out.

If you have the unlock key, then you don't need to buy anything else. You just need to work out how to configure the phone you have.

Thanks for the quick reply, How do I get the unlock Key? The last time I configured my Pap2T was in 2011 not sure if I still have those emails nor instructions, If I log into my Pap2T would I see the unlock key? is yes where, or if I email Freephoneline would they provide it to me? Thanks again.

Log into your Freephoneline account from a computer and you should see your details.

Login at https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings.

You'll see information similar to what hanke posted.

Basically, your VoIP unlock key is your SIP Username and SIP Password that's shown after logging in at https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings.
VoIP Unlock key settings are located at https://support.freephoneline.ca/hc/en- ... redentials.

By the way, when you login at https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings and see "Your SIP Settings", those recommended settings listed under that heading, unless you've manually entered them, don't reflect the settings presently entered in your ATA, IP Phone, or SIP app. The only information that is updated on that page, at each registration interval, is "SIP Status" (registration state) and "SIP User Agent" (SIP device or App being used). Many are fooled by what “Your Sip Settings” means, when they’re really just recommendations, particularly for Linksys ATAs.

Note that when there are multiple devices (ATA and IP Phone, for example), softphones, or Lines (on an ATA) using the same FPL account, only the most recent registration is valid. The previously registered device will lose registration with FPL when using the same Freephoneline proxy server, and, consequently, incoming calls will not ring on the previously registered device (since only the most recent registration is valid). This is especially important to consider if someone else is using your SIP credentials (SIP username and SIP password) that are found after logging in at https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings or if you're trying to register your FPL account with a smartphone SIP app (or FPL desktop app), with another device, or more than one ATA line. Registration is required for incoming calls. Registration is not required for outgoing calls (except, without registration, outgoing calls may disconnect after 15 minutes due to the 15 minutes session timer than FPL uses). Only one registration per FPL account is allowed at any time. A single line on an ATA is one registration. An IP Phone is another.

Unless you own two VoIP unlock keys, which requires using two different email addresses (only one VoIP unlock key is permitted per FPL account, and each FPL account requires a different email address), you may experience issues registering or using both your ATA and IP phone simultaneously with a single FPL account without expecting potential issues with incoming calls, based on FPL's policy. A Freephoneline VoIP unlock key currently costs $119.95+tax: https://www.freephoneline.ca/optionalServices# (select "VoIP Unlock Key" tab). Keep in mind that each Freephoneline account has a separate phone number associated with it; in turn, each VoIP unlock key is associated with a different FPL phone number.

Freephoneline does not offer technical support, especially for configuration issues or problems on the user's end.

@ezenga

Only the Grandstream ATA sold by Fongo can be used with Fongo Home Phone, and that ATA must be purchased when ordering Fongo Home Phone: https://www.fongo.com/services/fongo-ho ... e/adapter/.

You will not be allowed to use your Yealink IP Phone or Linksys ATA with Fongo Home Phone's service.
