Zoiper (Android) settings for Freephoneline?

Post by ljkxf »

I couldn't get zoiper (Android) to work with FPL, can anyone please share your settings for Zoiper?

What I have is
Host: voip.freephoneline.ca
Username: used my SIP username (1+10 digit phone number)
Password: used my SIP password

I keep getting "Registration failed (Request Timeout 408)" error

"This error means that the phone did not receive a reply from the server(or there is no connectivity with it) and is common with new installations or when changing the network connectivity, i.e. being it 3G/4G or WiFi network.

Check the routing device/ firewall settings

Common reasons include:

- There is typo (or an extra space) in the host/domain name

Open Zoiper -> Go to Settings -> Accounts -> (your account)

Double check that the setting for "Host"is correct and does not contain any spaces.

- There's an issue with your internet connectivity

Please open your browser and check if you can visit a random website. If not, you have to fix your internet connectivity issue(s) first. If you are not able to do so yourself, we would suggest contacting your ITSP (internet service provider)

- Your router is intercepting and changing the packets as they pass through

Be sure to Disable SIP ALG on the router. A list with problematic routers and solutions can be found here http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Routers+SIP+ALG"

I can't test on an Android device currently, and I don't use Zoiper.

However, I would try navigating to Settings-->Accounts-->Your Account--->Network Settings

a) Change "Registration Expiry Time" to 3600 seconds.
b) Change Keep Alive Time-out to 20 seconds
c) Change transport type to UDP

Optional:
d) Change host to "voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060" without the quotation marks to help avoid potential SIP ALG issues while on Wi-Fi.

e) Test while using cellular data as well to ensure the problem isn't with router settings on a LAN.

Setting requirements are located at https://support.freephoneline.ca/hc/en- ... redentials.

Keep this in mind: when there are multiple devices/softphones/Lines (on an ATA or IP Phone) using the same FPL account, only the most recent registration is valid. The previously registered device (or ATA line) will lose registration when using the same proxy server, and, consequently, incoming calls will not ring on the previously registered device or ATA. This is especially important to consider if someone else is using your SIP credentials (username and password) that are found after logging in at https://www.freephoneline.ca/showSipSettings or if you're trying to register your FPL account with a smartphone SIP app (or FPL desktop app), with another device, or more than one ATA or IP Phone line. Registration is required for incoming calls. It is not required for outgoing calls (except if you want calls to continue past 15 minutes). Only one registration per FPL account is allowed at any time. A single line on an ATA or IP Phone is one registration. A SIP app is another.
