Are you using a software or an adaptor?
Do you hear a dial tone before you dial?
Are people able to call you?
Is your internet working when you try to call?

A few of the questions we need to have answers to in order to help.

Are you using a software or an adaptor?
I am using adaptor, spa-1001, It has two lines, another one (Voipstunt--line#2) works perfectly
Do you hear a dial tone before you dial?
Yes, I hear dial tone. And, I also can hear the ring sound of other party.
Are people able to call you?
I can get call from people for at least 3 or 4 times.
Is your internet working when you try to call?
Internet is working fine.

by the way , if i change the setting of this line(line #1) to Vbuzzer(voip provider) it works fine.

Two likely causes then:

1 -- Firewall ports on your router. Each of your adaptor's lines should be assigned a port. Line 1 is usually port UDP 5060 and Line 2 is usually port UDP 5061. Make sure the one matching FPL is open on your router.

2 -- RTP Packet Size MUST be 0.020. If it is anything else it might fail to send information properly (and result in no sound or choppy sound) A commonly used size among some ATAs is 0.030. This size cannot be used 100% effectively on our service.

Try those two things and see if it helps

Both ports are opened to spa 1001;
RTP Packet Size is 0.020

any other solutions?

Thanks

Now It is being set up for Vbuzzer, and I have my Freephoneline forwarded to my Vbuzzer number as a temprorary solution in order to keep me being touched by outside.

You may have already answered this, but is the SPA 1001 the router or do you have another you use? If so, open the aformentioned UDP Ports 5060 and 5061. Otherwise keep an eye on the forum and email fpl_admin@295.ca and I will get back to you ASAP.

my home network is Cable - Cable modem - Router(UDP 5060, 5061 are opened and pointed to ATA) - ATA (SPA-1001), a Desktop, a Laptop(wirless)

ATA
line 1 is freephoneline port 5060 with aforementioned problem form last Saturday Jun 27, 2009 or one day early.
line 2 is smartvoip(sometimes voipstunt) port 5061 only for dialling out longdistance call works perfectly.

I did not change anything, but this problem popped up three days ago.

Lookforward to hearing you soon on this issue.

Thank you!

You could always try hooking the ATA directly to the modem as the modem is one that logs itself in right? Cable modems authenticate automatically and should be able to service an ATA without a router. The only need for a router is to enable your wireless as well or hook up multiple devices. But for testing purposes, if we bypass the router, we can find out if the ATA functions then. If it does, the router has an issue, if it does not, the router is not the problem.

br0ck wrote:Immediately. I will here the ding for outgoing call but no sound.

same like I encountered.

If I hook ATA directly to the modem, it works.

First, I think there is an issue with the router , I wrote an email to Router's technical support.

Second, Freephoneline might could do something, since I have no problem before and no problem currently with Viopstunt, Smartvoip and Vbuzzer when I am dialling out.

Currently, I have to use Vbuzzer. I am waiting for the response from router's technical support and possible improvement from Freephoneline.

And also, I think my last solution to this issue is to buy a hub(switch), hook ATA and router to hub if I can not get any support either router support or Freephoneline.

Thanks a lot!

Is there any other ports need to be open to freephoneline beside UDP 5060,5061?

The technical support from the router ask me to open all necessary ports, I only know 5060 and 5061. Is there any other ports?

What is RTP port?

For the ATA yes, ports 5060 and 5061 have to be opened and for the software phone, UDP Ports 13000 and 13001 have to be opened.

Thanks

I opened udp 16384-16486 for the rtp, now I can hear but choppy.

Somebody said that 5060,5061 are control port, when you make a call first invoke on those ports and than it will open other neccessay ports automatically for you during the call.

I do not need to open 16384-16486 for Voipstunt and Vbuzzer, but Freephoneline do. why?

BTW, the port range is on sip tab "rtp port min" and "rtp port max" field. You can set it by yourself

RTP 16384-16486 are not at all necessary, all of our ports are UDP which include 5060 and 5061 as well as 13000 and 13001.

For added peace of mind that nothing will go wrong you may open all four of those ports in your router, 5060 & 5061 are for the ATA and 13000 & 13001 are for the softphone.

Thanks
