freephoneline is still down over a week now
I live in Mississauga, ON and I use a VOIP adapter to make and receive calls. For over a week now my lines have not been working. Emails to customer support are being ignored. You would think freephoneline/fongo would at least acknowledge that there is a major problem and post something about it in the forum and send out emails to their users. I don't understand how a major outage like this could go on for so long. It's quite bizarre. It wouldn't surprise me if someone from another phone company infiltrated fpl/fongo and screwed everything up. I am worried for people who use fpl as their only phone. What if there is an emergency?
Here's a news flash update. I just signed up with another VOIP provider. I entered all of their settings into my adapter and it worked!! Line 1 on my adapter lit up and I got a dial tone. I dialed a number but it did not go through because it said I did not purchase any credits which is fine because I just wanted to see if it would work or if I would have the same issues I'm having with fpl. I then went back and re-entered my fpl username, password, proxy etc and it does not work. It seems like freephoneline deactivated my account or something else is going on. At least I know for sure that the problem does not lie with my adapter. Hallelujah!
Well isn't this interesting.

FPL service has been restored from the recent outage for most customers. If you subscribed to the monthly (Fongo home phone) service, I would expect them to have at least responded to your email, but since you are subscribed to the BYOD FPL service...billcanada wrote:I live in Mississauga, ON and I use a VOIP adapter to make and receive calls. The thread title should be renamed "Please help me fix my FPL VOIP."
And then, if you want the community to help, you would provide details (brand/model number/firmware) of your modem, router and ATA.
Good luck!

Just confirming from our end that there certainly isn't a major outage or week of downtime. I'd follow cu2o2o2's suggestions of posting more details about your setup so the community can help locate what isn't working for you and get you back online!

Re: freephoneline is still down over a week now
My issue has nothing to do with my VOIP adapter. In my adapter settings it says "can't login to server." This happened all of a sudden when everyone else started having issues. The issue is obviously on freephoneline's/fongo's end, not mine.
Re: freephoneline is still down over a week now
Yes I've been having this issue for a while now too. "Can't connect to login server" is what I see every time I notice the phone is disconnected again. It's driving me nuts. The service was rock solid for about a year. Now suddenly it disconnects and reconnects multiple times per hour.

Re: freephoneline is still down over a week now
Same thing here. Service was very good and reliable and all of the sudden I have multiple disconnections a day. I didn't change anything to my ATA config.
I don't understand why tech service won't investigate this issue...

Re: freephoneline is still down over a week now
I too have issues with the line. I am using a Linksys SPA2102 and it has been working rock solid for the past year. Around Christmas in 2012 I observed the ATA was not trained (the last light of the three was off). Ever since that time, it is on and off at random times, mostly after making or receiving a call. The administration interface showing "registration failed". If I restart the ATA, it will register until the next time the line is used.

Re: freephoneline is still down over a week now
I'm happy to report that they're not down anymore. My lines were not working for over two weeks, until this past Saturday. I tried many things but none of them solved the issue. I decided to try a different VoIP adapter and my lines worked. Then I decided to do a factory reset on my PAP2 and re-enter all my freephoneline settings and it worked too! I couldn't believe it. The lesson learned is if having problems, do a factory reset on your adapter first and then go from there. I don't know what the heck happened to my VoIP adapter because several other VoIP providers worked fine when their settings were programmed into it. I'm just glad it's working again with freephoneline. Hallelujah! I apologize for my previous posts. It's just been so frustrating trying to figure out what the heck was going on.
