Re: Dialpad - not working
Seems to be semi- fixed; I am able to dial out and make a calls once, and communicate (audio in and out work), but the DV application does not ring or show that its ringing when doing so (not a huge problem). What is a bigger issue is calling to the DV number, I am immediately redirected to the voicemail message.

I'm running XP with the latest updates. It was a nice app when it worked.

Re: Dialpad - not working
Ninoc - I know this has been covered , but just to be sure, check your version of Java - I had to step back to Version 6 update 25 (note: this should automatically install now when
you install Dell Voice). For some reason, the Dial Pad won't work with the latest versions of Java. If you have a newer version, the best thing to do is
uninstall BOTH your Java AND Dell voice, and then just re-install Dell Voice - it should install a working Java version automatically for you.
Otherwise, I know I can't help you, but the software is now working on all fronts for me (Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit) - thanks again Fongo!

Re: Dialpad - not working
So the dialpad is mostly working exept on automated attendants, where you know you have to press 1 for this or press 3 for that, it doesn't seem to register on the other end, but I can hear it in the ear piece. So...it's a work in progress, any progress is appreciated.

Thanks Snow Drifter. Deleting all versions of Java back to update 1 worked. The follow me button doesn't work tho. Thanx again.

Re: Dialpad - not working
This just in: (Okay maybe a week old now.) Most of the concerns about downgrading Java being a security threat are moot at this point as the most recent take-over/remote code execution threat affects all Java version from SE 5 through to the most recent version of 7. Which brings us to pre-Oracle times.
Glad some progress has been made on this thread, Not everyone's favourite work around, but if you're using a headset, there's a decent probability you can put one ear/earbud upto the speaker and transmit the DTMF which the program is generating "in-line" over the audio channel.
Alternatively a DTMF generator could be employed to do the same job, but these devices are not nearly as common as they once were. Circa 1980-90.
Well, I'm on my way to go shoot people with infrared lasers in an attempt to make lights dance and buzzers sound; have fun all.

HAHA, I remember when we (the UK) first changed the pay phones over to the new 'tone' phones. Not all of them were done at the same time and you could go to some of the older phones and use a tone generator done the line to make calls.Bloodsong wrote: Alternatively a DTMF generator could be employed to do the same job, but these devices are not nearly as common as they once were. This might not sound like much, but when you have to pay for both local and long distance calls, every little helps, especially to us school kids that couldn't afford too much. It didn't last long, but it was fun while it lasted.

Able to make calls & receive calls but “Test connection" pro
The subjects gets truncated; it should read like this: Able to make calls and receive calls but “Test connection" problem and IVR issue
This is an update from my earlier posting on September 21 in which I wrote:
I also deinstalled the Java Runtime Environment and downloaded and installed Java 6 Update 29.
Then I deinstalled and reinstalled Dell Voice.
When I started Dell Voice I chose “Settings > Test connection”
I got the same results as before:
Next I tried actually making a call from Dell Voice to my land line and vice versa. Now it is working in a basic way in both directions despite the above results from “Test connection”.
There was one feature which caused some difficulty: I phoned my Bell land line to leave a voice message. I spoke the message and pressed the # key using the mouse. I then got the usual voice menu to review the message etc. I used the mouse to click the numeric keys on the Dell Voice keypad but the Bell voice menu did not consistently understand my key presses even though I could hear them. This is a similar problem to that reported by pehughe4107. At first I thought that it was a consequence of using a webcam microphone and computer speakers instead of a headset as recommended at http://www.dellvoice.ca/systemRequirements but I see that pehughe4107 was using an earpiece. I wonder if pehughe4107 had the issue all of the time or whether just some key presses were missed as per my experience. By the way I tried the same test using Google Voice to dial my landline and there were no problems with the IVR features.
I want to give my thanks to the Fongo people for getting the main features working. Hopefully the issue with the erroneous results from "Test connection" and the IVR issues can be resolved soon.
This is an update from my earlier posting on September 21 in which I wrote:
As a check I downloaded a program called Simple Port Tester from http://www.pcwintech.com/simple-port-tester. Using this program I verified that UDP port 13000 is open.I can place a Dell Voice call but can't hear anything. When I use Google Voice I can place calls and hear so I know my hardware is okay.
I can't receive a call.

From your message:
From your message:
This message is indicating the forwarding port 13000 UDP is being blocked by either your router or ISP. You will need to either try adn give access via the settings in your router/computer or call your ISP to have them open the port.
I hoped you have resolved this but if not, perhaps my suggestions (even though configuring ports is new to me) may help. It seems that changes have to be made in your router and possibly in your firewall software. My ISP is Bell and so I could have phoned them as they provide and support both the router and the firewall software. Since there are so many routers and firewall software offerings out there it is not reasonable to expect Fongo to support them all for free. As it turned out I was able to find the information I needed on the Internet and so did not make a call to Bell. Once I had made the changes to both the router and to my ISP-provided firewall software, I downloaded a program called Simple Port Tester from http://www.pcwintech.com/simple-port-tester. Using this program I verified that UDP port 13000 is open. If you do contact your ISP because Simple Port Tester indicates that the port 13000 is not working, then you can trouble shoot with your ISP until Simple Port Tester gives the desired results. Strangely the Dell Voice "Test connection" software reported a problem with port 13000 even though I was able to make and receive calls. For more details on the other things I did and on my results see my other post.- What does "You will need to either try adn give access via the settings in your router/computer or call your ISP to have them open the port." mean? Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions on how to set up the router/computer because I have no idea what to do.

It's been over a month and STILL no fix? Are you kidding me? How am I supposed to use your service if it's crippled to the point where basic functions don't even work? A 'downgrade Java' fix? Really? I want some results, it's like Dell Voice has become deadware and is just floating away. I mean, if that's the case then I'll find something else to use. I'm beyond frustrated! Sure I can copy and paste but that gets tiresome, especially with my setup. :S

Re: Dialpad - not working
Thanks for your help DougF - appreciate your response.
The desktop phone's been working for me this week, I can make outgoing calls and receive incoming calls and voicemail. However, I no longer hear the "ringing" tone when I'm dialing out, just 15 seconds of silence followed by the other party picking up.

Re: Dialpad - not working
So I updated Java because it gave me a notification in my system tray a couple days ago...
My new status for my Dell Voice desktop software...
-dialpad not working - annoying because I can't check voicemail with the desktop software! (I can't click "1" to hear new messages) So I have to log in to my account at dellvoice.ca and check my messages there (which is a great feature lol - at least I can still check my messages at the computer)
-can call with Address Book, or copying/pasting phone numbers into dialpad and clicking call
-still no ringing tones
No complaints tho - I can make due with the phone working now

Re: Dialpad works, but no action
I am using Windows 7, 64 bits (freephoneline application). Dial pad works, but no call initiated. I am connnected to Fongo servers (my number appears on top box).
Some time the call starts and I can get the correspondant phone ringing, but no audio, just open the line.

Re: Dialpad - not working
Pete,
Sometime you should reset your ATA (I mean off for 10 secs or so). For me it works for now...
If this is the solution, I will have to review my ATA settings.
Let me know.

Re: Dialpad - not working
There was a Java update this week, and now my Dell Voice desktop software doesn't work (cannot dial out with the keypad or address book).
If I do a test connection, it says:
Data transfer: Unable to send/receive sound data! Port 13000 should be available.
Possible reasons: NONE
The "possible reasons: NONE" is pretty funny... this is getting old, Java updates breaking Dell Voice desktop software
